Damm Man you are honestly a nightmare customer. Just sell the truck.

You are stressing yourself out and a bunch of people at the dealership that probably don't care about your truck. I would just move on. I'm not trying to be rude. I am that customer sometimes, but I know when to stop.its too much of a headache to sue and nearly impossible with the level of intermittency this issue appears.

god forbid the dealership show some integrity and do their job. A bunch of people at the dealership that don't care about his truck just points to the fact that customer service is a thing of the past.

    A nightmare customer? Jeez, wow.

His truck is randomly dying in traffic and Turd I mean Todd is giving excuses that corporate is backing. I'd be upset and want it fixed too.

Yeah, I just sold a house there last July. The realtor and title fees were criminal. I'm currently shopping for the next house and get to go through it all again! :woot:

Fair assessment. In most aspects of life I'm on the same page with you. But I don't spend new truck money to get the shaft-o-grande like this and just walk away. Part of that money I spent was on a warranty.

Well let us know what the solution ends up being. These trucks are easy to sell. I wouldnt recommend another Tacoma because the new ones are even worse as far as build quality and price

Well, I hope they figure out what it is because otherwise, they will just sell it on and you or me might be the buyer....

Like the Honda CRV I got that wouldn't go up hills > threw a misfire code and died> over and over. Dealer said the ( used ) car had a 'privacy policy' and wouldn't tell me what had been tried on it. There are 31 different things it could be in the service manual. I had tried 7 of them before I sold it....

I am going to take a wild guess on this... Dealer starts throwing parts at your truck to make it look like they did something, but nothing changes and problems persist

Well - Not yet. But they did extend an olive branch. They texted me yesterday to offer a free loaner car. I'm going to take them up on it as soon as I get over the Flu that my wife brought home from her business trip. Spent the last three days in a Sofa-Coma.

The tech did ask if I would let him take it home so he could try to replicate the situation.
    • cold start
    • up hill
    • mild acceleration

I told him as long as it was insured by the dealership or Toyota, sure! Falls under the "Operating on public road ways waiver" you sign when you had the truck over. But I doubt we are going to get any mornings cold enough this year. It was happening around 40° to 45° and I'm not sure Phoenix will get that cold again.

I'd give them at least another week. If they knew what the issue was they'd tell you.

If you’re still in a Toyota provided loaner then guess that makes it slightly better but still… they need to be in contact.

I'm fine if they are still in the midst of troubleshooting. I'm fine if they need it for another 2 weeks, maybe longer.
My concern is that the apple air tag is sitting on the edge of the lot and hasn't seemed to move and they have been radio silent. No response to calls / texts and I'd be happy with a "We are still working on it." Service Tech asked when I dropped it off if he could take it home so he could replicate it first thing in the morning. Unless he lives on that overflow lot and is sleeping in the truck, he hasn't. And we are out of cold mornings in Phoenix. Our extremely mild winter this year was also a short winter.

The other part of it is they have an automated test system that alerts you when you drop your truck off, when they take it to the bay, when they perform diagnostics, when they close up diagnostics and wheel it out of the bay. It's pretty chatty but I like and appreciate that. And I haven't received one single text. System down or no work performed?

My fear is it's just sitting, collecting dust without progress.

Haven't done that yet. Got sacked with the Flu last week and ended up in the ER for a few hours at one point due to a secondary pneumonia infection that also spread to my bladder as a UTI because I let the Flu dehydrate me. Been a helluva week. Never knew you could get Dick-Pneumonia and it would send you to the ER. Doctors think they caught it right before Sepsis set in. Antibiotics are helping. That's a long way and TMI to say that I've not had the ability to drive a vehicle much less be in a condition to go be around people and get one. But I'm feeling better and trying to ascertain of I need to go get one or if they are close to done - doesn't sound like they have started work.

    BUT!

I did just get off the phone with Jennifer from Corp. She too was coming back from the flu (it's a real futher mucker this year) and saw my note about dropping it off and not hearing anything back. She reached out to Todd. He's got another vehicle in the shop that they have a trouble issue with and he owes them a call on it too. They are con calling at 2:00 PM CST / 1:00 PM MST to talk about both vehicles. She did apologize for their lack of follow up and keeping me in the dark. We talked about their poor communication habits and follow up skills and she's going to remind them of that.

ETA ==> I should have checked the air tag. Apparently the truck is still parked on the lot but in a different spot. So it has moved this morning and may be in line for a service bay.

The air tag picks up the location via someone's phone in the area. It can look like it has moved depending on where the phone was when it picked up the signal. I had a car sit at a shop for a couple months, and I thought it was moving while it was there. Come to find out when I went in to pick it up, that it was still in the same spot covered in dirt and a battery so dead it wouldn't even hold a charge anymore. It was just picking up the phone signals from different parts of the lot.
