I get that, its not like I have an extremely big tire, or a ton of poke...
I know RB's is all about covering their ass & recommending what's going to offer the best protection, where they stand, if it has poke theyre recommending the xl's....
Which by the way, are only 1" wider than what you have now.
I get you dont need the flap to cover the entire width of the tire tread...
But then again under that one situation where the tire is turned so the rear outside edge of the wheel is really extended away from the truck, maybe that what we need the most protection from?
Dont think the rear is as important as the front...

I personally don't like how the HC mounts, how it leaves that 1in or so of body panel that can get damaged and maybe rust. I just measured and with stock wheels I have ~1" distance from the sidewall to the outside edge of the flap, so that's probably closer to 2" from the tread.

If im doing this right, you got 285s and +35, that's what like a shift of ~32mm from stock? which is like 1.2in so either way I think you'd be good.

Youre saying, from the calculations go xl?
or "I think you'll be good" means stick with the og's?

I think the regular flaps should be flush with your sidewalls or close to it, so if you wanted more protection go xl

Ark worked with me on a design that reduces the amount of material overhanging the fender edge, slightly shorter, and without the kink or bend. They fit and look great imho. Everything is frozen or dry so no chance to check out the spray pattern yet. They definitely will protect better than the factory Toyota flaps I swapped out. The folks at Ark are great to work with and the prices are fair.

in the same boat. Ordered the RokBlokz high clearance and now wondering if should just get the rally They haven’t shipped yet. Kind of nervous about the outer mount of the high clearance damaging the paint on the truck. Going to be running 285/70/17 KO3s on Method 316. I believe it’s +25mm offset.

Damn it I posted a bit too early. Jason @ Ark just got back to me with the following:

"Thanks for the note, below are some pictures of the trailhunter. If you don’t want the bends, just make a comment in your order that you’d like them flat and we’ll ship them without the bends – No issue.

I’ve seen people order without the bends but I think that’s what I like that about them. Mine get here tomorrow.

    Love!!!!
    But I like being extra…
Costly but ide say totally worth it!
I was really mind f’ing myself over the size of the xl high clearance,
Especially the length as in pics they look extremely long, in person they’re not at all.
I’ll take a side shot front to back , back to front, tomorrow in the day light as was dark by the time I was done….
crappy pics, phone case camera lense protector is thrashed….
