Wholly hell, at first i thought you were going to bike that! Which would be cool, with enough time to get it done (like the whole rest of 2025)

Also, for sure make that counter-clockwise as it’ll be hotter down south.

We're just accepting fate there, plus buddy has family that lives IN death valley, and a cabin in mammoth so well camp to start the trip and have places to stay and relax at on the tail end when energy is lower after a handful of days on the road

Riding trails in DVNP is of course illegal but some of the backcountry roads are pretty tough. About 10 years ago I tried to ride to the Big Four Mine in the north of Panamint Valley. It was tough. Even when I ditched the bike and hiked. And that short section is shown on the backcountry map as a road.

    Weather was fantastic yesterday.

Figured out the wrong direction to ride this trail.

It took me a second to figure out where this was. There's about two handfuls of people that I've seen clear this from the bottom to the top.
I'm not one of them, it's impressive and "BUMP" actually puts on a few events for hard climbs throughout the park.
The one pictured Quarry Road/Blood Rock, the southern entry on West Ridge to the top is another, and then the bottom of Johnson's MTN from foreplay is the last one. I actually listed them in reverse order of difficulty.

I do ride up Quarry Road about every ride, but have to hike a bike once I get to this. I'll attempt it, but making it is another story.

that’s exactly where it is! It would be interesting to watch someone do that whole climb. Went up this and stumbled my way down Hyde.

Rode coldwater on Saturday as well. That was pretty awesome.

Hyde is one of the hard trails in the park, it's not as fast as Thunder or Quarry, but a bit more technical.
I like Coldwater, but haven't been but once in over a year, so hard for me to talk about it. It's always a good trip though.

If you're going to be in the Bryce Canyon area, take a look at Thunder Mountain. Best views around, and a good ride.

    Finished up the 24.

Really happy with how it turned out.

Had to up my sprocket size for a better ride from 36T to 40T. 40/13 seems to be pretty good balance of speed/cruising.

Anyone need a torque wrench? Local REI has to get new ones every season. I snagged a 2-10nm one but they had a handful of these and the 10-60nm park tools. 40 and 50 bucks respectively. I can swing back by if people wanted them

I'm interested, but located across the country. Not sure if it's worth the shipping.

When are you thinking of going? FWIW the N Rim Grand Canyon NP doesn't normally open until May 15. Maybe this year it will be earlier if there isn't snow, but I wouldn't count on it. May - June can be a tough time to plan trips because high elevations might still have snow (or not cleared of deadfall) while low elevations can be getting hot.

Last week of March is friends spring break. Odds are that section has to get cut out. But if somehow it’s possible, absolutely doing so. 4 national parks on that route still is not bad

Haven't been riding much due to the weather, but I commissioned this custom bag from a buddy. Has a full-size pouch on the right side with elastic straps up top to hold my pump and a half-size pouch on the left hand side. Super happy with how it came out!

Now to get a friend to cut me a 1/2” steel 30” diameter circle to mount this thing to.

Edit, I didn’t realize how heavy 30” diameter circle weighs. o_O
