I get the appeal of mounting it to concrete, but I'm not going to drill a hole in my concrete. I want to be able to move it, even if a PITA and super heavy.
Plywood would work, but to make it stable it would have to be on a 4x8 sheet and IDK how stable it would be at that point either.

I will say the stand is amazing as it should be. I'll be selling my "bikehand" stand here soon locally and keeping my feedback stand for roadtrips.

What’s the general consensus of forge and bond wheels? You seem like a decent price and have a lifetime warranty with crash replacement. The set. I’m considering has their in-house hubs which I don’t know a lot about.

With lifetime warranties we hope the companies are around in 10 years, but who knows anymore. Also IIRC forge and bond made rims for Evil, Revel, and Chris King.
What axle spacing are you looking for?

    Yeah.
I had to look them up, hadn't heard of them. I kinda like what they stand for with the recycling aspect. I personally don't notice much of a difference from one wheelset to the next other than the hub engagement points and when changing out tires. Not much info on their hubs, but they use J-bend spokes (a plus) and have 162 points of engagement (that's pretty good). Maybe worth a try if you need wheels?

Found a carbon hardtail frame I might snag to build up. Anyone have parts laying around they’d want to sell? Basically need it all but have a shimano cassette but likely will set it up SS

I looked into them last year and inquired about their hubs. They are Bitex, which isn't a bad thing, they use the model that has a steel axle instead of aluminum, the aluminum has/had a rep of breaking, so the steel is more durable. I also talked to a couple wheel builders and I was told they are every bit as durable as I9 1/1.

My ROVER was built up with those rims i23, laced to I9 Solix hubs. Have not ridden the bike yet so can't comment on ride feel.

They’re for a gravel bike, 12x100 and 12x142. Fair point about the warranty.
Funny enough, I’m not even chasing engagement. They’re going to be for a gravel bike, so hub engagement is not really a big deal for me. Longevity in the ability to deal with power for an extended period of time is my top priority. I have a set of I9 GRCX wheels on the bike now, and they will continue to be the rough terrain wheels. They are very well built, but also very heavy. I stupidly signed up for some longer rides this year, the rides that will be mostly dirt roads and pavement, I’m looking for a light wheelset. These would shave half a pound from the current set which, over 76-100 miles, could make a difference in the climbs and also give me 2 sets of wheels for the bike.

Good info, thanks! Their higher end rims are laced to Torch hubs but they’re also like $500 more than the set I’m looking at.

I have a buddy who has a pair on his gravel bike. He likes them so far and hasn't had any issues to have to deal with warranty. I'm not sure which hubs he went with.

    not enough.
i remembered them being more pricey but looks like their sales make them a lot more palatable. when they first came out, i thought they were a bit too pricey and not worth it so I stopped looking at them.

too heavy and you woudln't want to move it ever so.... I would either get some simple metal square tubing and create and x and bolt through. or take the plywood idea with some reinforcement so you can really leverage on the thing. or if you have welding tools/skills, maybe weld small plate and put a heavy mat over the plate. that's what they did at the shop, square plate and the stand welded onto one corner of the plate, with a heavy foam mat on top of it.

That’s good, that’s what I was looking for, reviews from people who actually have them. Not using the warranty is great in my book!
Same, when I was looking at MTB wheels, F&B came up but they were much more expensive then the other options I was looking at so they got pushed aside. Their gravel wheel sale puts their carbon set at about the same price as I9’s GRCX Solix set with alloy wheels. The I9’s don’t have the lifetime warranty either.

When I bought my frame from Revel they had just a couple sets of their RW23 (Revel branded F&B) rims left so I nabbed a set...

I do actually... just upgraded some things on my hardtail. Everything is used but in good condition.
    • Bontrager Line Comp 30 wheels (boost, upgraded pawls for 108 POE)
    • Rock Shox Pike select 140mm fork (boost)
    • Salsa Rustler handlebars
    • Shimano Deore XT derailleur (11 speed)
    • Some Bontrager tires too (29" but forget the tread)
If you're interested, we could work on pricing. I'm not too picky as these things are mostly taking up space. I had been debating holding onto them as back ups but my wife thinks that's silly and we have too much bike stuff. She also wants a new bike...:p

I’d potentially be interested in the Bonti wheelset if @RtacomaN passes. I too am looking for an extra set to run SS. Maybe the Pike. Pricing and shipping dependent.

    Replied to your message.

@backcountryj happy to reach out if RtacomaN doesn't want the wheels or fork.

This is perfect! I had been putting off selling that stuff locally for like 6 months! I was told to get rid of it by the wifey after I built up my CX/Gravel frame this winter. I'll have to get pics of that one for the thread... Van Dessel Country Road Bob. It's a funky frame but rides great for gravel/road duty when the trails aren't dry.
