    Someone was telling me not to fill gas cans in the plastic bed of the Tacomas..static electricy builds up and can cause a spark and Boom.. Any one else heard of this ?

    All the pumps at gas stations I have ever been to always have signs/stickers indicating NOT to fill tanks in the bed of the truck. Take a look next time your fueling up.

    I never worried about this, but a store employee ran outside one day when I was filling a gas can in the bed, told me I had to put it on the ground. So, I did some research, the employee wasn't some kind of nazi, it really is necessary to put them on the ground. Scary stuff.

    An absolute no shiter there. The gas flowing through the nozzle into the container will build up a static charge and spark when removed. BOOM!

    Most pumps have a sticker that says "Do not get back in your car while dispensing fuel". I wonder if her insurance company gave her crap over this claim?
