    @zippsub9

This took about 20 seconds; with a better quality image you can make this look much better. I didn't even bridge the numbers or letters.

If you're ever making something for someone, especially their business, there's a good chance they've got an SVG of their brand/logo. SVG's are used for all types of stuff whether it's a decal, a banner, etc.

    Always ask for an SVG.

Welp, I was all proud of myself after opening up Inkscape and building this .SVG. I haven't yet tried to do the CAM piece yet, but it is pretty shameful that you cranked that out on F360 in a fraction of the time.

You get faster the more often you use things, and you only learn more efficient methods after learning to do things the hard way.

Unless you received formal training, you're most likely self-taught and don't know crap (like me when I started).

From time to time I'll hold a large Zoom meeting where I focus on helping newbies get started with showing them the entire workflow in real-time.

    Screenshot_20250210-094106_Facebook.jpg

    Screenshot_20250210-094051_Facebook.jpg

That's the post that I put up followed by a short Power Point at the start of the meeting before getting started -

    Screenshot 2025-02-10 172612.jpg

    Screenshot 2025-02-10 172618.jpg

    Screenshot 2025-02-10 172622.jpg

    Screenshot 2025-02-10 172636.jpg

    Screenshot 2025-02-10 172641.jpg

This last meeting lasted for over 2.5 hours :anonymous:

The session (with questions asked and answered) normally goes on for an hour to cover what's shown in the lesson plan.

The reason for going a lot longer is for when I open the floor to all sorts of questions and answers that cover tool library creation, suggested settings, how-to's on dialing in your setup, and more.

Again, no one knows everything. So I like to do this to get people started on the right track.

I sure as hell wish I had received that sort of help.

That's just the Marine in him, they can't help patting themselves on the back...damn double jointed bastards.

Don't knock yourself down, every accomplishment is a block to help build even more skills.

I'm only 3-4 years playing with cad/Cam. Every time I learn something new, I think, I wonder how many others doing this shit know how little I know?

Hey, I share the knowledge I've acquired

I hate gatekeepers like crazy, the people that do learn but insist on keeping everything secret.

Inkscape is one I don't know how to use though :bananadead:

Greatly appreciated as well. I just need to figure out how you covered the posted .PNG to a .DXF in F360. I’m sure there’s a YouTube or even on the Fusion 360 tutorial videos. I do realize now how cool Inkscape is for art and creating none geometric fabrication ideas. It seems very intuitive. Well, off to my son’s open house for high school transition next year, 4 more years to an empty. All happening way too fast!!

Is there a such thing as a bidirectional open valve that only flows one way? That’s me, drinking from the firehose.

    Oh I used Inkscape!

Then I just brought the SVG over to Fusion so I can screenshot it there as your "project" since you mentioned putting it on a circular cutout.

I had over 14000 lines of code in it at a 28 minute cut. I used smoothing at .0008 and cut tolerance at .0008 them optimization at 30 ipm and 90ipm max cut speed.

Just got done cutting this out; 253 pierces and about a 29 minute runtime.

It's a shame though cause I got lazy and refused to draw larger bridges for the letters.

This file was sent to me by a member of the FB group but I scaled it down a bit to fit my left over metal I had on hand. This cost me a few letter e's that fall out.

    She's on the wall now.

    Nooooo, 16 gauge

I'll never go thinner than 16, feels cheap

At 45" wide though it is pretty hefty

Small job for a local - he brought in some parts he wanted me to reproduce (from now on) so he can buy close to home.

    20250220_161002.jpg

    20250220_162807.jpg

Saves him on shipping on top of the base price he was paying someone else.

Still have 5 more to cut but need to confirm something tomorrow.

Crazy part is, the radius cut on top as well as all the holes were poorly done. Mine is on the right.
