So what are you going to buy as a replacement vehicle? I don't think this 23 Tacoma is going to hold up to your expectations repaired or not.

    I vote Porsche. :burnrubber:

I think the OP deserves a literary award in drama. This thread started 11/29/24 and still going.

We already have a 2 seat sports car. At 6'1" and sporting a Dad-Bod it's a tone of fun once you are in it but getting in and out is like watching a cape buffalo getting birthed.

I've been pricing Chevy's and Jeep Gladiators. Thought about going full sized and that just didn't make sense when I started pricing it. I also have no desire to drive on of those Bro-Dozer sized trucks. The Mid Sized Market is already as big as the full sized market was 15 years ago.

Well in my defense I have played it cool and accommodating early on and when I normally would have been up their ass with a rusty butterknife, I was in the hospital. So event's haven't really lined up for me to take that approach. Trust me... As I start getting my strength back I'll be making my presence better felt electronically and personally.

Oh Guess what Corporate learned in the conference call with Todd the service manager yesterday!
I have no idea because they never called me back to tell me. So now I have two calls I need to make today and will probably go down there and snag a rental on their dime.

    WELL WELL WELL!

We finally have us an answer!
And if it Sounds like BS,
    Smells like BS,
Even tastes like BS rolling around in your mouth,
Then you can guess what it is - Bull Sheeaat.

They "think it might have been a fuse that controls the fuel pump not completely seated." Why? Because they ran their thumb over the fuses in the fuse panel and then drove it and it didn't die. These people have an absolute masters degree in minimal effort troubleshooting. I'm picking it up today and then going to make an appointment with an independent shop that specializes in Toyota's to have it looked at. The next time it's cold enough to do this the truck will be out of warranty anyway and it feels like it has been out of warranty since day one. If it's still a mystery after the independent shop, we are dumping the truck.

Might - Sure. It might have been. I double checked it pretty good when I pulled everything. Wished I had a picture of it then so I could go look and see if one was protruding a little. I just don't find this likely.

The "couldn't replicate the issue" has been an issue dor getting warranty work done on any Toyota for as long as I have had one.

I even painstakingly went through an issue on my old truck with the service manager (demonstrating it), and he came up with a correction, etc., only to have the shop guy at the appointment ignore that because he couldn't replicate the issue.

Dealer service centers suck for anything other than routine maintenance (and they're not even great at that), it should be pretty widely known at this point. And as you've found out, some suck a lot more than others. (Not saying others would have resolved your issue, but it generally doesn't take two weeks to do nothing).

My kids came to visit over Xmas - drove 3 days to get here -
Within 2 days of arrival the entire house was down with some kind of something.
    Wasn't Covid, wasn't the flu.

They were here an entire month I think we spent 3 days not being sick. It was so bad we didn't open presents until Jan 2.

I finally called an Exorcist and a Witch Doctor I think that cured us.

I’m not that savvy with vehicles beyond the basics, but if they suspected it was that loose fuse, couldn’t they run a diagnostic BEFORE they seated it to see if it was in fact not connected?

Playing devil's advocate: a loose, but not disconnected electrical connection could cause this kind of intermittent issue. So it could have been partially sticking out, but still making the contact at that time.

I think if the computer had any kind of active issue, it would be showing a code that could be read the very first time Gallup brought it in.
