No, I don't think Toyota is slipping.
A few months ago we bought a 2025 Camry XSE w/AWD... probably the best car we've ever had.
Camry's are all hybrids now... getting 40+MPG.

Simply because my truck is my one big indulgence. I have the disposable income, wife does not want a new RAV 4 because she loves her 2020 so much she won't give it up. So why not enjoy it a little?

I kinda lost faith when they made the BRZ with Subaru. I was so game to buy one until I saw it had a Subaru engine. I wanted a traditional 4 cylinder or something simple. Not a flat 4…

Simply stated, reliability or perceived reliability has helped the Tacoma maintain a consistently high resale value. That single factor alone helps keep me in new trucks.

It will be interesting to see how the new turbo 4 Tacoma holds up but that being said the Rivians are also getting long in the tooth and their reliability is also lacking.... I have owned several Hondas and recently sold my 2018 Type r with zero issue's for a Integra Type s the build quality on the type S is better surprisingly. But yes their bread and butter cars are not as reliable as they used to be.

New Vehicle's are kind of scary now a days I work for a large company and we buy lots of vehicles so I get to see all of the problems so it kind of makes me want to hoard the older cars lol...

Because GM as far as I’m concerned is trash. I would never buy anything from them , if I was given something from GM for free I would sell it and buy something else.Lol I got burned too many times . I’ve never had a bad experience with any Toyota vehicle or for that matter Nissan trucks .

I'd say yes it is. Pumpkins leaking in the 3rd gen, 3rd brake light leak, 4th brake line shit design, shit interior quality on 4th (loose handles), shit top hat, piss poor paint quality, and we could go on, shit 2nd gen frame issue. I love my truck, but (leaking pumpkin, squeaky clutch, squeaky leaf springs, rattles in the windows, rusting at driver side door where I step in, air filter recall, third light recall, AC sucks. I have replaced my front end (tie rods and CV joints, which I USE my truck so chalked it up to that.

Overall, this forum (myself included) make fun of GM and competitors, but I believe Toyota no longer (no ever did), hold an edge in the truck segment. My brother and another good friend have the Colorado (5k) & Canyon (unknown mileage) respectively and neither have had one issue.

Not in 20 years. However, I can say in construction world, I see many many GM's daily with 100k+ and even one truck 250k+ (2500). My sister in law has a 2015 1500 truck with 157k, basic maintenance and no issues. I drove it in MT last June, great truck.

Are Tacomas even being sold right now with the brake line recall? Tells you all you need to know about the state of affairs over at Toyota.

I have been disappointed with some of the issues the GAF trucks have been having. I'd probably be less disappointed if I owned one and was subject to recall or any other issue. Driving a truck is different from buying one. I don't know if Toyota is slipping, Toyota still makes money.

For me the quality controll or what ever you'd call it is of concern engine failures Tundra still a small percentage of actual problems. Transmission TSB, reports of bed rail caps becoming loose, and the brake line recall do not build consumer confidence, but these things also happen, and if that gets corrected I'm not worried about it. These production or quality issue do become more alarming when I also see more gimmicky things getting priority over building a better product.

I still have to find the truck I want if was to buy one. Toyota makes it difficult.

I was under the impression anything with 18" wheel was still good to go.
