It could be as simple as breaking the bead and rotating the tire on the rim to a different orientation.

My truck came with KO2s when I bought it in 2017. I have beat the shit out of them since, lots and lots of miles aired down and lots of miles in shale country. Approx. 1500-2000 miles of dirt trails every year.

Only had two failures over the past six years and ~60k+ miles. Both failures were sidewall issues from extended time running aired down. I always kept up with rotations and never had any issues with wear or noise right down to the very end. I dont mean to sound like a fanboy (though I kind of am) I just wanted to point out that the most vocal group online tends to be those that are disappointed with a purchase

I finally upgraded to Falken Wildpeak MTs in the skinny 33 size a month ago. Bringing the conversation full circle here, Im in the same boat as you OP. I had one of those 4 take 3 full strips of stick on weights, plus a few on the rim. But it rides well so Im not sure what to do haha

I was SO close to going Wildpeak this round but I have always loved the KO2 so I figured, “What the heck…you only live once.” So far I’m loving them.
So, you had the extra weight in the new Wildpeak?

Yeah, one took 3 full strips of sticker weights plus one or two on the inside of the wheel. I would have liked to see the tech break the bead, spin it then try again, but sadly I dont think anyone does anything above the bare minimum anymore.

I have that tire on the rear right now. I can just barely feel a little hop at certain speeds, but its not at all bad. I should probably switch it the front for a hundred miles and see how it does there. Ill probably follow the advice of those above and just leave it alone until it gets bad. Though Id feel better to get it taken care of before my ~3000 mile trip to CO this fall

In my case since I was going to run KO2's in a 285/75/17 that size only comes in "E" and they are lighter then some brands "C"'s If BFG releases a KO3 in that size fingers crossed they do a "C". I am also looking for the most side protection I can get in an AT tire.

Similar in that my size 265 75 16 only comes in E load for KO2.
I’m not “wheeling” but where I live in Montana we’re constantly on a forest service or rutted up and nasty gravel road, etc to get to fishing, hiking, paddleboard/canoe put-ins, etc.
My Toyos ended up having numerous punctures and the last one almost couldn’t be repaired because a very small nail had punctured the tread and was almost into the sidewall, making it almost unrepairable.
I figured it was worth going up to at least a C load but I wanted the KO2 so I bit the bullet and went with the E.

Ive had nothing but good luck with KO2s so far. BFG often has sales and you can get them everywhere too

I think the hate for KO2's come primarily from most people love to love the underdog. With the KO2 being proven around the world and the one tire most others are compared to it has been the top AT tire for years. It may not be the best at any one thing but does very well to excellent in most every condition. Which is the job of an AT.

Chiming in late, but I went through a total of 3 KO2 sets before I could get them all to balance. First set was Load E and my local America's Tire claimed that "E" wasn't well suited for the 4Runner chassis. Second two sets were Load Range C. Luckily BFG warranty was easy to deal with.

Time for a new set, so I'm going with Toyo's new RT Trail...to be installed later this week. I've read Toyo's balance easier, so I hope to have a similar experience.

Keep in mind, having the having the tire in the back won't do much good in the future if you plan to rotate every 5K, as you'll have to deal with it at some point.

I have had nothing but issues with my KO2’s I’ve had them balanced 4 times in the last year and a half. All the tires except one has between 8-12 ounces of weight. They are at a point where they are “smooth” enough to just wait until they wear out but definitely won’t be running them again. I have two friends with Toyo and Nitto products, most their wheels have next to no weight to balance…

Sounds about right. If you gave me BFG KO2 I’d give them away. Hard to balance , they wear like crap.

Not my experience at all. My 285/75/17's "E" load on Method 701's have been wearing very well and the most weight on any of the five is 1.25 ounces(5 x .25 stick on weights) 2 of the 5 required 0oz's
