Ok someone is selling the new roof racks that can come on the 2024 tacomas in my town. I have been looking at the prinsu rack that really isn’t made for our truck but people have put it on anyways. They started selling it as a 1st gen roof rack after so many put them on. It is mounted by drilling and installing plus nuts in the roof. I am wondering if I could just do the same with the new Toyota rack. It looks nice, has Toyota across the front and is very low profile. Has anyone tried this or looked at them? Am I insane? He is asking $500 for it which is steep but $200 less than the prinsu.

The only issue I have with this is the sheet metal in Tacomas is pretty thin... any heavy weight on the rack might bend the sheet metal.

Yeah, I’m not too worried about that. I won’t have much on it. I see people using the prinsu one with small loads just fine.
My real concern is will that rack fit and will it follow the contour well.

    Local to you?

Go set it on the roof, look and photograph. You'll figure it out.
