I purchased this truck last week from a dealership unfortunately it was a used truck so no warranty… I’ve seen tons of videos on it I’m just worried for the sound that sounds like metal one picture is under the passenger side tire and the other is under the hood

I'm assuming you're parting it out. How much for the Sport hood?

Check the oil, if you don't have any lights or message's on the dash your probably fine.

Did it make the noise when you did a test drive? If not have it checked out if so it’s probably just normal.

These trucks sound like rolling sewing machines on a good day, so you are probably fine. Upload a video with the sound if you can so we can make a more informed opinion on what you might have going on there.

If the sound you're describing is the same as mine - totally normal.

Sorry couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t post I’ll post another video of a cold start. I took it back to the dealership yesterday. So it won’t cost anything since it hasn’t been 30 days. But just wanted to see if anyone else has figured out what is causing the sound.

I think it could be the vacuum pump. Which I believe has a TSB on it . That’s not a valve . If you had a bad valve that motor would not be that steady . I think mechanic who told you that may have just been talking with out facts .

It’s back at the dealership now. It’s weird because it doesn’t do it on cold start nor while driving only when it gets warmed up and idling. I’ve seen so many with the same sound and say it’s normal but just doesn’t sound normal to me.

that is too much racket, even for our trucks. good move taking it back.

edit: in the video, your attempt to home in on the noise seems to point to the high pressure fuel pump. that thing is cam driven and the whole fuel rail radiates noise but the very high pitched clanking in that area seems like there is something loose or misadjusted there.

edit 2: AI search indicates HPFP not mechanically adjustable...so if the problem really is in the HPFP, it is defective...but that is only a reasonable guess on my part.

It’s crazy becuase it drives super good honestly. I’m hoping it’s just a bad vacuum pump.
