willingly being stupid and gambling these. CVNA earnings today. Took 55% gain on the other one. and I think the other NVDA i sold was 50+ also. Not smart but more fun

One thing with that $CVNA call...you know with earnings it's either going to pop, drop, or stable...Earnings gives juice to puts and calls. Don't shy away from closing the deep in the money call next time and buying a new call at the money. You'll make the same amount on a Pop (the reason you kept the call) because the earnings cost is baked in. You could have banked $700 (the difference between your call and a $280) and hence the Juice, because it should be $1,000 difference in the money.
And that brings up another problem, those are very low volume calls...So it's going to swing wildly. Your $270 call only had 2 contract transactions today on earnings day...That doesn't give you much chance to bank money.


Yeah, so there was $400 spread between the bid and ask and only 2 contracts

 

Question for the experts.

Whats the point of a 24 hour market if I have to wait for market open for orders to close?

Placed a limit buy at 430. Price has increased by 6% since then. So my bid is nowhere near the ask now.

First time trying this 24 hour bs.

 

It's extra time for them to manipulate and steal your money. 24 hour market is fake. It's not connected to any exchange.

 

Exactly what I collected after my experience this morning.

Should have screen shot the message I received after placing the order. Was along the lines of thank you, your order has successfully been placed yada. Since your order was placed outside of normal market hours it will be queued until market open.

Instantly thought to myself 24 hours my ass.

That order never went through, ended up canceling and resubmitting an updated bid at market open. Just didn’t get the bottom of the dip.

I guess another dumb question. Are special people allowed to swap outside of market hours? Seems to be a common theme of the overnight earnings dump lately but by the time markets open to us the price has already ran up pretty hard. I don’t understand why these firms are “dumping” several hours before market opens if everything is queued and can correct. Seems like a lot of wasted time to resubmit limit sells every 30 seconds for hours on end.

Maybe I was a dumbass. After reading up on it more I believe I had my order set to market hours. Didn’t realize on the bottom you have to choose a time frame for the order to execute.

Market hours is default.
Premarket and after hours and 24 hours are additional options stuffed away.

Guess I’ll test this theory on a DCA position tonight if one dips.

Actually after reading my brokerage non disclosure agreement regarding after hours trading, f that noise.

Short answer, yes. Long answer, Yessssss. Something like 90% of ALL trades do not hit lit markets.

 

Also, FWIW, I'm buying GME calls in the morning. April expiry. Probably $35 strike. Just call it a hunch.

You should have asked for the stuff you mix in gatorade or whatever. It's a much smaller dose. The procedure itself is quick and will be over before you know it.
