Wondering if any crazy people bought one new and decided to park in storage or a car collection.

    Possibly.
But they will likely never bring a lot of money like a sport car.

If I owned one, I'd drive it.
And drive it now, while parts are still reasonable obtainable.
They are simplistic, easy to fix, and reliable.

I'd rather save money "now" by driving it, than wait until later and "hope" I made money by storing it.

    Understandable.
But sentimental reason, likely won’t be the primary factor in future selling prices.
Not for a Tacoma truck anyways.

Toys we had as a child? Maybe / more likely.
But not many people have an extra $40-50k to throw at an old Tacoma with low miles.
A $300 old toy fits the budget a little better.

Definitely not for a gen2 lol
But things changed 20 years ago when the compact pickup went the way of the dodo
I was there at the beginning drooling  every time I passed the local yota dealerlot in early '95 throughout all of '96 and into early '97
    Then '05 came along...

Not saying anything wrong with a gen2 Tacoma
They are just different in all ways, further away from the old days of the Toyota truck

The early 2nd Gen were a lot like the 1st Gen.
Just bigger with the “weak links” fixed.

Better ball joint design and an engine fit for towing. (Well kind of).

But the 1st Gen had it beat in the 4WD actuation.
It’s hard to beat manual hubs and shifts.
    They just aren’t as convenient.

I’m serious just sent you a pm back. For some reason this forum doesn’t send me email notifications, and I have been extremely busy at my business the last 2 weeks. Rest assured I have funds ready.

Mine had 63 when I bought it, another member here just posted he bought a 99 with 69K. They are out there, not always barn storage finds. Some people just don't drive a lot.

Do your due diligence especially when it comes to the frame and lower ball joints. Time is as destructive as number of miles if not more.

Asked him how much for his truck and he decided not to pursue a deal with me because I didn't write him a storybook introduction.

Cash in hand ready to buy from someone who isn't a stroker

Dude's been totally wasting my time for over a month.
Can't even get a name from him. No contact info. Nothing.
I've given pics, maintenence history. Background on the truck. My location.
He was going "come up with an offer."

Nothing. Just games. Not a serious person. I buy and sell a lot of vehicles. I know when something isn't right. Now he's butthurt that I walked away. lol
I didn't ghost you. Or get rude about it. I politely told you I was no longer interested in selling. That's how an adult handles it.

He approached me. Not he other way around.

May not be his truck and he's just catfishing for attention. It happens all the time.

I'm the owner of the truck.
The user with the new TW account approached me.

Scammers will push hard and fast to get a deal done. That's not what's going on here.

I have little doubt he's a real person. And probably does want to buy an as-new 1st Gen. A truck which own. And maybe he does have the funds. But it's my truck. And it isn't listed for sale. And I'm not desperate for the money. So I get to set the terms.

I cannot count how many vehicles I've bought and sold totally sight unseen. It's not really that difficult. But it requires trust. Trust that gets built up via communication and interaction.

When I was asked for undercarriage pics of this truck, I told him that I would have to move at least six or eight vehicles to get this one up onto a lift. NFW am I gonna go that, especially in winter with vehicles in climate controlled space, without some level of confidence that this deal has an actual chance.

Sorry for the rant. Taco on boys!
