Calm before the storm

 

You think so? We had a miracle march last season but not so sure about this year.

 

When I moved here in 98 it snowed over 2ft in June so I never cancel out a late storm.

 

Two storms like that here back to back is wild. Granted the January one wasn't as deep but still, super rare. On the backside we'll probably have one of those years where we skip spring and fall headfirst into a hot summer.

Got it damn near perfect too as far as overall dimensions





Except now with the appropriate 2.48" center to center spacing between the small holes

Feels like I got hit by a train this afternoon, went home early. Musta caught something during weekend activities, which makes sense with the amount of humans at the expo

 

The crazy meteorologist guy I follow on FB is saying there will be another big storm by the end of Feb and at least a couple in March (despite the NOAA saying it's gonna be dry AF). So we'll see

 

why you not put your in/out on an outside corner?

Cuts look super good, what settings?

I really need to get a refrigerated dryer and at least a Primeweld machine

Settings are - 0.02" programmed height (0.055" physical height), 0.6 second pierce delay, 45 amps, and 70ipm for outside cuts and 45ipm for small holes under 0.75". It's 3/16" thick mild if that helps.

These are my general cutting consumables, so that refrigerated dryer is what nets me 1,000 pierces. It effectively cut my consumable costs in half since it doubled my pierce count.

 

I think all the local guys are being super hopeful. Some of the local guys predicted 9ft out of that last storm. We got 2 feet at most and only in the higher locations.

 

Yeah the last one was a ton of rain but a warmer system (at least down here) so our snow level was pretty high up. From what he's saying about these upcoming ones it will be the same, more tropical/Pineapple Express atmospheric rivers which are warmer systems

 

I have not messed around enoughto know how to lower my inside cut ipm like that... nor have I googled lol

thats about what I run, .04" physical height at 42a cuts look similar on new consumables, but after 50-60 peirces (and actually inches traveled definitely seems to matter on my setup), not as good haha.

Ah gotcha.

Yes I used that radius for my lead in/out but I'll show you how I run it and why -



Running it to follow the radius allows for a much cleaner transition in and out when using an arc lead. You can visually see where the lead in occurred, but you can barely feel where it cut into the steel and out again.

Doing a lead in/out in the area you pointed at can lead to material loss if using an arc, or a nub that sticks out without an arc. A lot more material loss in a lateral movement especially if you utilize a finishing overlap.

I've toyed a lot with lead ins and outs going into a rounded geometry versus flat ones and this is what I personally found to work best for my parts.

Share some of your cut parts and settings! I've love to try out different types if it means a better and/or cleaner cut.

As for different speeds, you can do it one of two ways.

1. Create a separate profile, this is the easiest.

2. Utilize the Feed Optimization feature, and designate a specific speed when a cut path meets whatever criteria you set forth in your rules.

 

Although now that you mention it, yes putting the lead in/out if that sits on a tube would be more ideal since it'll be hidden or even beveled off for welding.

Not being told how a part is fitting onto something just leaves me to decide

 

It's the same up here for the most part. We did get a dip in the snow level for a little bit and got a few inches at the new house.

I haven't been to be honest it doesn't really interest me much more than the all-star game they usually do instead does.

We did however subscribe to Fubo TV on our smart TV so I can finally watch games legitimately, rather than shitty pirate streams on the laptop lol
