Just got back from 2 weeks in upstate Michigan, it's downright tropical here. I was sweating yesterday when it was 51* in Everett.

Gotta watch out as a big name Youtube influencer!

Upside is that us Washingtonians are all pasty and white from a long winter of darkness! Probably helps with the trafficking "marketability"

Not sure if any of you are familiar with this place or not. Pricing is far cheaper for a Shoei Neotech 3 than I can but here in the US even with the shipping from Italy. Guys over on one of the FJR forums have been using them.

    https://www.motostorm.it/en/

They have parts, accessories, and helmets.

Now im going to point out why that is but i could care less and imagine they are in fact the same helmet.

But its because the one available in the US is DOT certified and the one youre getting from there isnt.

I prefer ECE over snell/dot anyways

I'm not sure I buy that. Most of the manufacturers self test and submit their results so DOT isn't really worth the cost of the sticker they put on. The difference in price for the Neotech 3 I'm looking at is almost $300 with it shipping from Italy.

Makes you wonder if it's like meds. My insulin here is $275 per bottle whereas in Italy the same Novolog is $10 a bottle.

According to available data, the average cost of Novolog (insulin aspart) in Italy is around $10 USD per vial, making it significantly cheaper than in the United States where insulin prices are generally much higher; this price is based on the average cost of insulin across Italy, not just Novolog specifically.

I have a $40 copay up until I hit $1000 out of pocket for pharmacy. I wouldn't even need to file insurance over there

Also, my fellow pancreatic challenged friend, its because Italy doesn't have corporate insurance companies and pharmacy benefit managers that have to add their cut.

I'm not one for free stuff....but it needs to be affordable. I truly don't see how people do it without insurance.

I work for an Italian company, I assure you it is by no means "free" given their income tax rates. You just pay the bill in a different form.

Lifesaving medicine shouldn't make multi-millionaires. A good living should suffice.

No one should be able to decide how much somebody else gets to charge for their work. Opens the door to bad things and drives the best and the brightest out of fields where they are needed.

I've been on the same insulin since 1998. It use to be $25 a bottle. It's now $275 with no change in it's makeup. The original patent for insulin was sold for a $1 b/c the inventors wanted people to have access to it.

I will never believe that LIFESAVING medicine should make multi=millionaires. I hope that if you get some diesease that will kill you without the medicine......hopefully you can afford it.

Now you want to pay for some shit that you don't need(Tamiflu), then by all means. Pay for it. The med will only quicken the flu, not keep you from death. I don't take insulin, I die within 24-48hrs if I'm lucky. My diabetes wasn't brought on b/c I was unhealthy. My pancreas stoping working when I was 6. I can't cure it no matter what I do. The only thing I can do is hold off the complications for as long as possible by taking insulin and watching my bloodsugars.

I understand your point, and I certainly don't wish you any ill will. I'd argue our patent system should be overhauled so that things like that, where the inventor(s) wanted it to be a gift to the world, can be made affordable. Our insurance system is a mess too. My comment was just to highlight the slippery slope.

Anything that allows the government power is something the government will try to twist around to gain more. It would start with life saving medicine, but it wouldn't end there. I could see it easily being twisted into "essential XYZ should never make people rich" and the pay for vital things like plumbing and electricity being capped and driving people out of the trades.

Look at what the retarded regulations have done to the trucking industry. Nobody wants to do it because you're literally capped on what you can earn.

I'm not saying I have all the answers, and I'm certainly not hoping your profession gets declared essential to the point that the government decides to limit your ability to make a living because it feels morally justified in entitling other people to your work. Thanks for wishing terrible things on me and assuming I'm unaffected by expensive drug costs in my life. That was big of you.

I understand there's no money in cures....just treatments.

For drugs that are needed(not b/c people want them.....weightloss, etc). No way should any lifesaving drug be expensive. Insulin has been around long enough that the R&D has paid for itself time and time again. This coming from an Alabama conservative. These drug companies need to be reigned in.
