New wheels and tires would be fine with me.

I think you guys are being a little insensitive. The transition from rear drums to disks can pose substantial design challenges and dilemmas. Only the most advanced engineering expertise would ensure such a transition would be smooth.

LOL. Toyota finally gets with the century and puts rear disc brakes in the Tacoma...and poops the bed while doing it.

Little insensitive, not... I've been doing brakes for 50+ years (not my real job) and this is the first piss poor brake line route I've ever seen. It's dangerous, not insensitive. I would like to chat with the engineer that came up with this to figure out his/her thought behind the design.

Same set up has been on the Tundra/Sequoia since 2022. Same part number for Tacoma/Tundra/Sequoia.

People have been putting aftermarket 17" wheels on the Tundra, can't say I've seen any reported isssues with clearance or line failures.

Any idea what the line looks like on the Tundra and Sequioa? I'd think it looks the same.

You had me curious. Did a web search and found this pic of a 2022 Tundra. Interesting, different rear brake line route.

Hypothesis - Toyo could be using the same brake line but it's too long for the 4th Gen Taco.

Also, the caliber is placed in a different location. The Taco is located on the upper back end of the rotor.

It looks like the Hybrids got the same rear brakes (17") as the Tundras but the non-hybrids have 16" brakes with a different caliper location. They all use the same brake line.

Toyota sent out a Defect Information Report on 2/6/2025. They said the 16" and 17" brakes use the same brake line but the routing is different. They didn't say that the hybrids only have the 17" brakes but elsewhere, it has been stated that the hybrids get bigger diffs and brakes. Not sure why they call them 16" and 17" when the rotors are 12.2" and 13.2".

Interesting, wonder if they're including other models. It appears to me the Tacoma rear brake position would be same for every trim level. Would be nice to see a pic of the i-Force Max rear brake configuration.

It probably looks like the pic above that shows a Tundra rear brake. Maybe somebody on the forum with a hybrid can take a pic of their brakes.

Thanks, the hybrid and non-hybrid have the same caliber placement.
