I had chatGPT come up with the parts list with a budget in mind. I’m a little disappointed that my RX6700XT didn’t handle the transcoding well but this will be a more efficient/better system than routing transcodes through my gaming PC anyway.

Oh I’m in the process of finishing so open walls and ceiling now. Just planning to run CAT6 cable and terminate at a wall plate.

Mfw watching $1000+ 5070tis fly off the shelf this AM. (sick af so I was up early)

I'm convinced they only sold a handful of cards at the $750.

This launch has been an absolute atrocity.

So for someone like me who's last GPU was a GTX550, the 5070 Ti is a good upgrade? :D

I am getting tempted to build another system though, likely for server duties, but something that won't struggle with encoding with the AV1 codec.

I've been building my own PC's for a long while, my most recent build. I hate to be the one who says this but, you don't need the newest of the new, you don't need to chase what's being released today. 4 years ago I fell for the hype and paid $2k for a fancy new GPU right after release and I regret that decision today. You can build a crazy good PC with the parts on sale, just as the newest of the new is being released.

    My example below:

    MB: ASRock X870E Taichi
    CPU: AMD 9900X
    RAM: 128GB G. Skill 6000Mhz Memory
NVME: 4TB WD Black C drive, with Dual 8TB WD Black drive for media for a total of 20TB (Photos and Video Editing)
GPU: MSI 4080 Super (I couldn't resist the looks)
Cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB AIO
PWR: Corsair HX1200, 4 years old from my last build.
    Case: Fractal Design North
    MONITOR: Alienware 34 OLED

What I see from my chair:

Super nice build. Similar to mine (same case even) but you have some nice upgrades compared to me. Jealous for sure!

Thank you, I put a lot of thought into this build, months of looking for individual pieces, I even ran my old GPU for a while with this build until I could find this GPU on sale.

This was my previous build that finally died over the holidays.

    ASUS Hero MB
    AMD 5900X CPU
    32GB of DDR4
    XPX 6900XT GPU
Inwin 9 something case. I was a bit obsessed with Jays builds on YouTube during the last build, but could never find the parts I needed to do a custom water loop. I gave up for this build because today's AIOs are just so damn reliable.

Newegg was an absolute sh*t show. Their website stated cards were in stock and as soon as you added them and tried to check out...

My experience with Bestbuy wasn't any better. My 9800x3d is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I'm thinking about returning it and scraping this whole build.

It would be easier to buy something prebuilt and I think in the next few months they'll be several nice pre built pc's to pick from.

I could buy another Mac for the price of some of these 50 series cards and have money left over for Starbucks.

I'm not sure anyone looking at a new GPU now would have a Mac in their sight.

Someone looking at a new GPU is either into gaming, AI, etc to utilize said component.

A Mac, well...that's just a computer that some will use for a different purpose.

When I bought my last Corvette, I wasn't comparing it to what a Chevy 1500's payload was.

Best buy is the only place I ever got cards on launch days. I watched the newegg madness go down. It was game over in like 10 minutes or less but they had more cards "avil" than I was expecting. Don't need anything but I was real tempted to snag a 5070 just to pass along. I signed up the lists too, if any of them hit I'd be glad to pass those forward as well..

I say build the rig yourself man. :transformer:

I did sign up for BHPhoto's 50 series waiting list this morning. The graphics card is the only thing holding this build up. Every other component is easily sourced.

As always, buying tech 1-2 years after release is best practice

.... Unless you use it for profit

Prepare to pay $850 for 4070 performance. Might as well wait for reg 5070, at least you can get good DLSS performance there.

Apparently these cold meds I've been taking also enhance my clicking performance and overall judgement. I have two 5070s coming , one Asoos Prime OC , the other MSI Vanguard SOC. I don't need both of them.
