And happy belated birthday @17taconut

 

I did my bi monthly check of the Toyota dealership in Frederick yesterday and there were still zero new 4Runners on the lot lol

It sure seems like they are taking waayyy longer to roll these out than any other vehicle I can remember.

 

I just check the dealer sites to see if they are. Have not seen one at either of the close dealers.

 

While working yesterday around Ft. Detrick in Frederick I had my first new 4Runner pass me. It was that blue color, almost like the Cavalry Blue from a while back. Didn’t get a great view bc it was so fast… but I know I liked it and they are hitting the streets!

 

I also like the way the new ones look. Like everyone else, I would have liked to see a bigger engine but I think it’ll be ok.

My wife’s grand Highlander has the same engine, I think tuned differently and is good for the size.


Right now though, I can’t even day dream about a new model Tacoma or 4R. My new commute is going to start soon and I have to see if I can get a beater or lease something with 30k miles a year that gets over 45mpg.

My truck will cost me over 7k a year in gas @ $3.00 a gallon. It’s “sad” when I could potentially lease a car, pay insurance and gas and still be under what my truck would be for gas

since my truck is almost paid off, trading it in isn’t a good option or on the table.

 

Nice!! I still haven’t seen one in person but I’m hoping I like them as much as I think I will. The wife really wants one.

 

It might be a while before you can even test drive one, while watching I see 95% of those online are already listed as sale pending.

 

A friend of mine actually test drove one last weekend. 4x4 SR5 at a dealership in Tysons Corner I believe. It was one of the NoVa dealerships.

 

They are definitely good looking, no doubt about it. But agreed, would have liked a bigger engine, or at least a bigger engine option. How great would that be if you could actually choose between the turbo 4 or pay a bit extra for the twin 6!! I’d have put a deposit down for the wife’s months ago… it’d be sitting in the driveway right now if that were the case.

I hear ya on the daily driver. If it weren’t for the ‘97 Camry, I’d never be able to commute back and forth to Frederick for work. The Taco’s 14.7 mpg would take all my monies!

 

Gotta bunch of parts building up in the garage, waiting for Spring to finally get here. Did go out this morning and install the Fleece “All Lights On” circuit board. Now I can have my fogs on when running either hi/low beams. Gotta say, for $30 couple bucks, this thing is gonna make a huge difference driving these back country roads at night!! Just pop out two relays, add the board to them and plug them back in. Took longer to walk from truck to tool box to get pliers to pull the relays than it did to do the job!!

^ second this! Tragic- I was looking at a body armor low clearance one to add a winch

 

Appreciate it… they are works in progress to say the least!

The front skid I had powered to match the TRD skid is removable. They made an adapter to make this bumper wench-ready… but I’m sure I’ll never find those pieces now. Honestly, I’d like a wench but not sure I’d ever really need one.

I haven’t gotten stuck yet on any of the local mall curbs.

 

yeah, I wouldn't be prioritizing it if I had 4x4

 

I dunno, you might be willing to take more risks in the terrain if you had a winch lol
