Look how clean it is ,

so after starting it a minute ago, I looked at the amplifier to see no power or protect led lit (I unplugged all speakers I had before starting)
I verified 14.1 volts present on the power wires . Took the amp out , Bout to open it up and see what’s going on inside.

Full disclosure, the Amps home in my truck is the cubby hole in the xtracab behind the passenger seat, and it did have corrosion and evidence of wetness on the outside connections and some of the case screws. I cleaned it well , outside only, and reinstalled it, and had power on it yesterday but also it was in protect mode.

I didn’t expect to see this level of damage judging by the corrosion I cleaned up on the outside. How this powered up yesterday is beyond me.

New amp ordered! Same exact make model, since I have the pot to rj11 cable, to manually adjust the sub power. Love that feature. Moving on to hvac heater control deal on my engine bay firewall.

I vote for accepting a company vehicle. If it breaks down it's on the company dime to get it fixed. Keep the Tacoma for weekend adventures.

I have been dreaming of building the Tacoma its own house to keep it out of the weather, especially after reading the value of first gens thread. I want a garage badly!

Cold, clear fresh water is a best-case scenario for immersion. As long as 99.7% of the residual is removed / dried out things should be mostly good to go

Trying to get motivated today, stayed up super late reading the Haynes manual on maintenance. Need to go suck out the power steering fluid and replace /dilute the milk that’s in there. And play with the heater valve control , and 29 other things I won’t list

In a Jeep I had similar year to your taco, I built my own battery cable replacement and upgraded. Wasn’t a bad job and I hate wiring. Did you order a harness already?

Wow, following along and impressed with all your progress. Hopefully you get this gem up and fully functional asap. (Quite the bath it took in that ditch).

I did, ordered the jeep cables 1/0 big 7 set without fancy sleeving. I routinely use a 15 ton burndy hydraulic battery powered crimp tool, but I just didn’t want to make couple hours worth of work any longer, due to the scope of work needing done. And realistically this set of 1/0 wire upgrade taking a back seat to the other issues I’ve been working thru. Starter is priority 1 , although it’s been starting much better today since it’s warming up. Pretty much every time after the initial cold start in the morning there’s no issues at all, and today it fired right up this morning.
