After waiting more than 24 hours I could tell the joint was weak. It popped apart pretty easily. Meh fail. Interestingly the goop bonded to the wood quite well. Just had no integral structural strength. Equal red glue dry coating on both sides.

I simply ran them through the planer. I will need to rough up the surfaces.

Next I will try epoxy resin next

You can't go wrong with G&G and cherry. It's one of my favs! Darrell Peart is a expert on G&G and his books are very inspiring. A leg indent would look great on your cabinet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aii1pQc-boM
This is a table I built a few years ago in Cherry

I'm looking at getting a medium to high grade jig saw, Bosch is best is what I've learned. I'm hoping some of you have recommendations for one thats almost as good but not quite as expensive as the Bosch JS572EK.
    Recommendations please.

    That table looks great!

Thanks for the video link. Leg indents, cloud lifts, and ebony plugs are all part of the overall plan. Those along with glass doors are details that I have never done before. I think that this build will really challenge me.

I have a plug in Bosch. Very strong. I have a DeWalt 20V for light stuff. The blade clamping is weak but it runs well

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Get back into woodworking for retirement. It'll fun and relaxing.

    :annoyed:

Kerosene heater appears to be out of commission. 2nd wick and it still won't fully light. It's like it's a couple mm to short to get a proper draft. Borrowed a friend's propane heater. 15 minutes and u have to turn it off.

My newer Bosch sander quit. Swapped the switch from then old Dewalt that lost its dust collection. That works again.

Then, into the basement for the noodle board. Screwed up the alignment for gluing and didn't see it.

    So...

At least the maple looks good.

How's the blade deflection on your Bosch and whats the model? Blade deflection is the reason I am considering the fancy Bosch even though I can't justify the price for a rarely used tool.

This one. It’s a hand jigsaw and depending on blade length there will be some deflection

All jigsaws are going to have some blade deflection, it's un avoidable. Good blades like the bosch blades can help minimize that though.

Progress was made slowly today. I got the two side panels mortised and dry fit. The center panel is 1/2 thick.

A few pics of today’s progress.

I’ve had a Bosch 1587AVS for countless years. I bought it at the height of my Landscape Maintenance and Construction business. It is one of the finest pieces of equipment I’ve owned. I used it predominantly for scrolling the faces for hand carved curved oriental bridges and matching planters, so most of its mileage has been in cedar. My patterns were tight and intricate so I need little deflection. Pictured is some 5/4 trim work for planters. The bridge faces were 2x12 cedar. I was able to achieve the same result with the roller guide behind the blade. You truly will get what you pay for. If I were to calculate the cost of ownership the Bosch has paid for itself time and time again. Good luck

Another step backwards, but I may finally have turned the corner on this.

After I cut the ends off, I noticed my line had drifted and it showed. My table saw is too small for the cut and my cobbled together workbench doesn't give me a level surface to support a piece that big on the job site saw. So I set up a guide for the router with a 3' level and went for it. I lost just under 1/2" in the process.

Glued some scrap walnut to the ends I cut off. This morning I broke out the router and guide and hogged out what I needed to get the stove clearance.

A little sanding and it's back in glue about an inch wider than it was before. Which will still work. Hope to have it finished and delivered by the weekend.

Not many pictures, but a lot of good music while I made man glitter.

Unexpected emergency woodworking trip tonight. My 78 yo father is a member of the Bakersfield Art Association. He called me tonight in a panic after a random homeless guy walked by and kicked in a 4x8 plate glass window.

A quick trip to the Home Depot and a bag of tools and I am woodworking, at night, on the sidewalk, in downtown Bakersfield. It is officially patched up until a professional can get here tomorrow.

Not my best work, but passable for the situation.

Homelessness coupled with mental illness is a tough thing. That's an expensive window to have to replace.
