Anyone else find the trailing arm and bracket the only ugly thing on the 4th gen? Everything about the truck looks awesome beside this .

Be prepared for a barrage of 4th gen dislikers with a litany of things they find uglier than the trailing arm bracket...

Yeah figured that would come, this is more of a question geared toward other 4th gen owners

Its an observation that I’ve made and it just sticks out, the question is to see if anyone else thinks the same

It is not pretty. But, then I think about how yaw happy and bounce prone my previous truck was I dismiss it. I thank that pan hard bar is there every once in a while. Just glad things have moved beyond the covered wagon suspension of old.

Toyota was just giving homage to the 4th Gen 4Runner.

Nope. Doesn't bother me. They kind of look like a four link a first glance.

It’s basically been Toyotas design on every 4runner that has ever been.

upgrade to some flashier trailing arms and you won’t even notice the mounts anymore

@Gfenza89 I agree, the trailing arm and the forward mount are extremely conspicuous from a side view. I don't notice it on other vehicles with the same suspension layout. But on the Tacoma? Sore thumb. Can't help but stare at it.

Hot take: I like leaf springs for steep climbing with heavy loads. They are a lot more progressive and don’t completely collapse as easily when all the weight is on the rear axle. That equals more stability and less potential to flop over sideways on climbs, especially if you are running with a RTT or camper. Been waiting for some company to introduce lift springs for the leaf sprung models of the 24 Tacoma, but so far I haven’t seen anyone offer that.

It’s miles better than the def tank in a 2011 Silverado.

Not looking like those will work with the Tacoma’s wheelbase, unless those front mounts have been moved forward.

Well, the SR has leaf springs. End of your noted observation. Personally, I do like the SR but no bueno here in Canerda.

I don't think it looks good but the leaf spring looks worse and that's all you get on the XC. What ever is bolted in that spot is functional so how it looks isn't important to me.

If I wanted to nit pick for things that look questionable I'd start with the rockers, too short fenders which is at least a cohesive design even though it's a weird design. There's also that aditional line on the rear fender that sweeps up from the bumper there's an outter line and a more recessed line I'm talking about the recessed line.

Will the trailing arm mount be an issue when off-roading?
