I decided to attempt repairing my hood where the skin separated from the frame. I wanted to share my jury-rigged setup to put a bit of pressure on the joints while the adhesive dries. "It's not stupid if it works." The props aren't super tight because I didn't want to distort the hood. Time will tell if this fixes it. I also decided to only do a few at a time to lower the stress level. The blue tape marks all the ones that need fixing.2025-02-23 14.35.24.jpg 2025-02-23 14.35.57.jpg

I had no idea this happens. How did you notice the separation?

Did this dimple your hood, OP? I used 3M NVH on mine. $40 for the tune though

It's pretty obvious, you can see that the factory bonds are separated.

No, I basically filled the open spaced rather than try to force it back in place.

Hopefully you fully removed the old adhesive from the joint before applying the new.

Yeah, mine are all about a half inch away from supporting anything.
Sorry to second guess, but I would have just filled the gap or glued in some closed cell foam pieces for support. That continual stress on the glue joint, with thermal cycling of engine heat and sunshine (in my opinion), may cause them to pop loose over time.
Just for future reference, you may have to fill some joints again.
That Sikaflex is good stuff though.
