So I had bought a SunLu S1 filament dryer off of Amazon but don’t like it. It doesn’t turn off or go to sleep after drying when the time is up. In retrospect, I probably should get something with automatic humidity control. I know SunLu has the S4 but it’s a little big. Any other suggestions? What do you guys use to dry your filament? I’m running PETG.

Paul, could you put the dryer on a timer? Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Century-Indo...91965&sprefix=electric+ti,aps,139&sr=8-7&th=1

I'm using a food dehydrator that has an empty ring for the spool to lay in and am probably going to do something like that, I'll just have to plan my drying so that I'll be home when it shuts off, so I can put it away in a vacuum bag.

Continuing saga of my 1:1 scale fill size B1 Battle Droid......

I've had the 3D printed back plate filed with some magnets for quick electronics access. The electronics themselves I've been working in for weeks in vain..........until today!

I have had the back plate removed for while with the electronics in them, and couldn't get the droid to talk, but after sorting some power issues he's now chatting up a storm.
The second switch I hit was to switch between excessive mode, really chatty, goes off with any movement every 20 seconds when it sense's it, and normal mode where he only talks if not disturbed in 3 or 4 minutes.

Bought a shelving unit to be my 'permanent' work station, or as @Pixeltim calls it: My future printer farm. Not sure I'm going to be happy with a 36" height permanently, that's what my temporary setup is. So, into Fusion I went and shortly later, I'm printing these. The 'L' shaped one is for the perimeter legs, the other will support the center 4 legs, where the two halves come together. We'll try 2 1/2" rise to see how that works out, adjustments can easily be made.

Can confirm, TPU for AMS is pretty damn hard. Not what I expected at all. It was malleable just after printing, but stiffened up quite a bit after sitting. Will likely have to go with other brands/types of TPU if I want actual flexibility.

Going to try some PETG-CF for a print this week. It'll be here tomorrow along with some hardened steel tips.
Any tips or suggestions to increase my success?
Printer is open air and most likely will be in the heated garage for this endeavor.

But then it won’t work in the AMS!

You may have trouble with open air? Change your support attachment (base and part) to 1 layer or they are hard to break off in my experience.

This is my main concern as the print is 90% supported and I prefer to use the grid supports on this one. So that makes it even more challenging.
Thanks for the advice, gives me somewhere to start.
I have made a few out of regular PETG that turned out decent, just looking to try this and see what happens.
It's just a small RC car body, and I am prepared to use the entire roll, experimenting until it works out. :) Buying one (not available anyway) is more than a roll of filament.

this is the video i was referencing.

the carbon print stuff starts around 17 min. the whole thing is interesting to watch the idea to design to final product flow. he's using ppa-cf though. not sure how different that is from petg-cf

This little guy. It started out at 45 grams, now down to 28 grams, which is fine for weight.
I've read the CF makes a cleaner print as well as stronger. Hoping it maintains it's weight.

It does usually, you got a link to the files for the model? A lot of times print orientation will save you material and time.
