Just spit balling. Since the vacuum hoses were reinstalled incorrectly, something else has to be.

I do know a common accident, when doing an engine swap, is to also have the WRAF sensor plugs and/or the O2 sensor plugs installed on the opposite bank. Which makes it run like crap.

@BassAckwards , didn't you encounter this on your V6? If so, do you remember how the engine acted?

I guess it's possible for the AFR/O2 sensors to get swapped but if that was the case it wouldn't affect it until it goes into closed loop which is around 30-60 seconds after startup.

Might look at the cam sensors though it would be fairly easy to swap those connectors although I would think it would set a code.

Yes i had an issue where the rear o2 harnesses got swapped after a clutch change. The ecu didnt know what the hell was going on and it was affecting the rear o2 voltages. Iirc it was driving up the voltages on each side to try and get a response from the sensor. I had no drivability issues, but it constantly threw codes p0136 and p0137, p0156, p0157 and an occaisonal p219B.

@Dm93 helped me do some trouble shooting and after the wiring turned out to be good, thats when i found the harnesses swapped.

Do we know that the throttle body is working properly, and if the original MAF was swapped back in?

Electrical/driveability diag is my favorite thing providing it's not an intermittent issue, those suck.

Doing it over the internet can be a real challenge though.

Even more challenging when you don't know what you are working with.....
Half way through the diag when things don't make sense, and then you find out "stuff" was added.

I'm a visual guy. I like to see what I'm working with.....

If you understand how things work, I can see how it would be really rewarding trouble shooting/solving problems. I get a little overwhelmed when it comes to wiring, so I try to avoid it if I can. Like most automotive things though, it’s intimidating if you’ve never done it before and is less so once you’ve got a little experience under your belt.

Oh it absolutely is, sometimes half the battle is digging around in service info for a good description and operation.

Once you get good at reading wiring diagrams you can infer alot about how something works even without having a description and operation.

Yea it took me years to get where I am but I've always had an interest in electronics and it seems to come naturally to me but I wasn't always good at it.

Still have the issue of where it'll start and, if I feather the throttle, it'll continue to run but soon dies if I don't. I've checked all the wiring, fuel pump resistor, and hoses. I've got no codes and no errors.

How long have you been able to get it to run while feathering the throttle?

I am curious if you could get it to run long enough to get up to normal operating temp.? See if then that it'll set a code.

I was able to keep it running for a little over a min. Never got a code. I do smell my catalytic converters and wonder if I have a plugged exhaust, keeping in mind the old engine had a head gasket failure.

You didn't happen to put some crap injectors off Amazon/ebay in it did you?
I was just scrolling back through this and I noticed the coils are new but I can't tell if they are Densos or not, that got me wondering...

Same injectors that came with the swapped engine. New coils and plugs are OEM.

That may very well be your issue, I never use injectors from a used engine. I always keep everything that was original to the truck especially if it was running, you don't know what your getting with a used engine unless you could hear it run.
