No worries, thanks for going to the trouble. Factory gear ratios are a weird fixation of mine.

Are you certain that was 4.30 and not 4.56?

According to toyodiy.com, chassis code RZN161L-TRPDKAB should have either 4.10 or 4.56 gears: https://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1997_TOYOTA_TACOMA_RZN161L-TRPDKAB_4101.html

I've seen conflicting claims about B04A online--one axle code decoder I found claims that it could be either 4.30 or 4.56, Another claims that 07 is 4.56 and 04 is 4.30. The trucks I've pulled from have matched the latter.

From my anecdotal evidence looking at junkyard trucks and other discussions of gear ratios online, 4.56 is what I'd expect to see in a 3RZ Auto 4x4.

Anything's possible with a 20 year old truck though.

More fuel for the fire, I just looked at a 2001 3RZ Prerunner in the junkyard yesterday. Toyodiy vin lookup says it should have 3.90 or 4.30 gears. The door tag read B07A. I was ready to go and didn't bother to count turns.

    4 run, 2 don't
4x4 here, but about once a year

Do the lines out there get packed like crazy? Out here it's best just to go during the week if you really want some

I can think of at least three different ways to interpret this and I wonder if any of them are actually what you meant...

Five cars is small time compared to here. Check out these drive-thru lines. They're always full.
