I’ve got the 2.7 will those still work? And ain’t 2.1” a lil small? I don’t have any tuning abilities currently I’m looking at the mega squirt 2 if that’s any good.

2.7? I thought the stock pully was like a 2.34 or something. Do you have a 4cyl, That supercharger isn't a Magnuson

Yes I have the 2.7L. I could’ve sworn the guy over the phone at Lcengineering said that magnuson sent it to them when I was having issues with the bypass valve……

and the stock pulley is 75mm. 2.95” that’s why I wanted a 70mm or a 2.9”. Maybe that’s too small of a jump maybe not. I wanted to take it slow and see where the limit for boost was on my current setup

Magnuson may have sent them a valve for the bypass, that's more a generic Eaton (the people that make the MP62 rotor pack) part but your supercharger is from a lesser known company called Alpine, LCE and gets them from South Africa.

    Here's the 3RZ 70mm pulley.
    Supercharger Pulley(70mm) - 3RZ(Smog Legal)

Also if you have the budget for it, skip the Megasquirt stuff (especially one as old as a 2 model) and go for a Haltech.

If you don't have any fueling and ignition control I'd be careful that supercharger makes a lot of heat and can make these engines ping if they're not tuned.

I in fact do not have the budget. Brokie high schooler who put all his money into his truck and has to save at least a little for college. I figured the 2 would be old but maybe it would work for my budget? The 3 is a little Spicy especially since I’ll still have to get a harness and a tune….

yeah I’ve read up a lot on it and am going to watch everything as we get into the summer here. If somehow I was able to do an intercooler would that help whatsoever?

An intercooler would help a ton but you'd have to get pretty good with TIG welding in a hurry to make it happen I think. There is room but no one makes a core quite the right size, your money would be better spent on a solid tuning option especially if this is your daily driver. Either way I've got a good tuner who's willing to deal with MegaSquirt stuff if you go that route, it's just a lot of legwork on your end to get it all up and going electrically since the 2 is pretty primitive and may need some modification to work with the VR engine position sensors and I'm not sure if it has hard wired pullups for the temp sensors.

So a 2 wouldn’t work with my motor? Sorry I just don’t understand what’s worse about the 2 other than I read it not having extra ports for accessories?

It will work you just have to assemble some stuff yourself and make sure you get the right board model to be compatible, like the MS2 2.2 doesn't support VR sensors so it wouldn't work at all with your engine but a MS2 3.0 would but it needs modification to run your idle control solenoids. The MS2 can only run semi-sequential fueling as well without modifications to its board versus the 3 which can run full sequential like a stock ECU. There's nothing "wrong" with MegaSquirt options, they're just kinda outdated and very DIY when it comes to making anything work nicely.

What else would be a good budget option? Maybe a piggyback? I’m not new to wiring so I wouldn’t be to intimidated to do my own work but what does “modifications” to the mega squirt entail?

And do I need ignition drivers with the 3.0? And what exactly do they do?

I also found out the new mp62 comes with a quick change 4 bolt design just like the Magnuson stuff. But again u cannot find any 4 rib pulleys :(

So with that kit the only thing that stands out that is super critical is you'll need to convert the IAC output to be a PWM style, I don't deal directly with these things anymore but given that they list it as a necessary change they probably document how to do it as well. Unfortunately it is semi-sequential only which is a bit lame in 2025 but it does claim you can modify it for full sequential on a four cylinder somehow. You need coil drivers if you're not using smart coils or a coil system without an ignitor. The 01-04 3RZ trucks use smart coils so you're good there already. If you need wiring diagrams or tuning help I can help you out there, but as far as building these things go we don't do much of that anymore, there's just better options avail for relatively cheap nowadays (admittedly not $500 cheap but still less than 2k and much more stable and controllable). You should also factor in the cost of a wideband controller as you'll need one and a sensor as well to pipe into your MS.
