Looking for advice…since we lost our Chief about 2 weeks ago, our little Cocker Spaniel Lagertha has been very depressed. It seems no matter how many treats, toys, hugs, how much play time, she still is so depressed especially for the 2 days a week she has to be alone in the house for a couple hours. Do any of you amazing TW dog families have any advice? We are eventually going to get another pup, leaning towards a Brittany…just nowhere near ready yet but we feel so bad for our girl. Her spot was always with her big brother…

Dogs go through the same grieving process people do. I think sometimes, it can be helpful for them to be allowed to see their brothers and sisters after passing or to sleep with their blankets. Maybe a little more attention or walks will help but just recognize, they experience loss too.

Absolutely! It just kills us to see her so sad. While playing and hanging outside while working on the Tacoma and what not she seems pretty good…but when she’s got her down time the pain is visible. I got a Bluetooth kibble thrower so I can talk to her when nobody is home and give her some treats. It’s like kids in a lot of ways, it hurts to see them hurt.

    2 points away from being a champion….
Should’ve happened just this last weekend if everybody that entered the show, actually showed up…
The no-shows cost us two remaining points that we needed,
we got a few wins, but they would’ve been worth more if everyone entered was actually there…
By this time next week, this dog, most likely be pregnant with her first litter, probably only litter…

I think the hard part is he's just gone. I think that's in large part why the recommendation of letting them see the body.

Don't know if it will help, but try a couple of play dates. A neighbor lost a dog a few months ago, and the other one was the same way yours is. There were a couple of play dates with some neighborhood dogs that seemed to help. They also got a second dog a few months later.

Thanks for the idea! We are planning on getting a Brittany eventually maybe in the next couple months…don’t want to rush for us but want her to have a sibling pooch to play with while we aren’t home

What kind of dog? Looks like our pup! We rescued this guy from some tweaker. Said he was a Shephard husky mix but I don't believe it now lol.
