But looking from the side the resonator is still in plain view and ugly as shit.

From the wheel well - yes. Paint it flat black (I did mine) and it's gone, unless you're looking for it.

Ditching the resonator doesnt make the truck any any louder or harsh....

Probably doesnt add any performance gains other than ditching 30 lbs & exhaust somewhat less restricted which you will never notice driving it....

 

Poor guy just posts about an improvement to his truck and you guys crap all over it. Its not even close to Friday yet. Let him enjoy his mod for a day at least.

Only if whatever goes wrong with your truck is a result of cutting the tailpipe. So no, not really

 

So Toyota designed and installed an exhaust component that doesn't do anything? I suppose a hum or drone isn't necessarily "loud" or "harsh" but it is annoying.

 

Does exhausting the gasses underneath the truck vs. at the bumper cause an increase in carbon monoxide in the cab when sitting still? (windows open)

 

Not likely any more than normally sitting in traffic with windows open

 

The closer the exhaust end is to the cab, then yes, greater probability of inhaling fumes, excluding winding days . You're also sucking up everyone's else's. OP's cut and redo is at the farthest point - smart!

 

Ive fixed car related noises, vibrations, harshness for 32 years for a living,
I was the guy EVERYONE brought their I can figure it out shit to me, bail me out noises to....
Sounds no different without the resonator other than very slightly louder at initial cold start up for literally a few seconds till it ides down...
Even when driving or acceleration hard after that,, "loud", no "harsh", no "annoying" either.....
Drives just like it did with the resonator....

 

Maybe borla will come out with a nice stainless drainpipe.

 

Used my truck as a generator while being inside and outside the cab. Haven't woken up to EMTs reviving me. Yet.
