I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment, but never the less..

Bring us a truck running the fuel you want tested and we’ll provide the testing free of charge.

This was a vehicle supplied to us. We can’t (always) control what fuel is used.

It should also be noted that this isn’t a “special” tune for 91 octane or premium fuel in general. Our Stage 1 calibration is designed to run regular to premium. What’s presented here is simply a data point.

Thank you for providing this clarity that the tune isn't forcing/necessitating a different fuel grade.

I'd happily coordinate to swing through if I wasn't a few thousand miles from your shop. If it was in the greater Baltimore area, I'd offer coordinating for the access to a LTD HV.

Please don't get any message wrong, appreciate your dedication to the mission of capitalizing on a design and seeking safe, sustainable improvements!

Hey Justin, I know in the past you mentioned possibly tuning the newer RX350's with the non-hybrid 2.4T. With that said, would you be able to tune the RX500h with the 2.4T Hybrid as well? We picked up a RX500h a couple months ago and once the warranty is up, I know a tune would do wonders for it.

We certainly would! Please visit one of our retailers to read the stock file. It takes about 20 min to perform the read so we get them supported.

What if? Toyota pushes out an ECU update and over writes the tune? Would I have to pay for the tune again?

No sir! Great question. We plan to put out many of these details when we officially announce the release but feel free to ask questions in the meantime.

Should a factory update get pushed and overwrites the tune, we'll have your information and we'll get you retuned on the new update at no charge.

As far as I know, ECU don’t update with OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. Only the multimedia system and maybe some other non critical things. Is that correct @JustDSM . If that’s correct, then visiting the dealer would be the likely situation where they may flash/update without checking with you.

That's correct. There isn't any powertrain OTA updates or capability just radio, body, and other associated modules.

Finally upgraded to 33s on my gen 3, do I need to get re tuned to compensate for the larger tire and revolutions per minute? Running CARB compliant OTT medium/spicy.

Only if you change the gearing. You can run any tire size you like (just as you could with the stock calibration).

@JustDSM Are you going to offer the OTT tune for the 4th-gen manual transmission, too? How does the flashing work -- can the end-user flash it with a Tactrix Openport and a laptop?

Hello is this still the case? I currently have an OTT with the stock 31" sized tires and am looking at moving to 33's as well as getting the RC Speedometer Calibration device, but notice these on the Speedo calibrator description that may potentially conflict/overwrite part of the tune?
    • Updates OE ECM Shift Points to accommodate larger tires.
    • Recalibrates Electronic Stability Control to work with larger tires.
Would I need to have the OTT reflashed after moving to 33's to potentially re-write the shift point changes as well as to account for any differences between 31s and 33s?

You can upgrade your tire size without needing to reflash/update. However, many opt to increase their throttle setting after fitting larger tires to offset the additional rotating mass and the larger effective gear ratio (from the larger tire diameter/circumfrence). The throttle adjustment helps compensate for these side effects and can help restore the "feel" you had prior.

The RC Speedometer calibration tool will not affect our calibration in any way, so no worries about it overwriting or doing anything to the calibration.

I was worried it updating the shift points as it claims to do would potentially overwrite some of the OTT tuning, which sounds like is not the case per your comment.

The device intercepts the the CAN BUS signal to the cluster and modifies the vehicle speed output from the ABS ECU with a user adjustable factor/offset that allows the end user to correct his/her Speedometer display speed.

This method of intercept won’t affect the ECU calibration. The shift points are determined based on accelerator pedal angle and output shaft speed.

I got this from the RC product page which still makes me a bit anxious about it conflicting/overwriting that portion of the OTT flashing.

Rough Country's Speedometer Calibration Devices don't just simply change your in-dash readout, they update your vehicle's ECM, ensuring accurate shift points and proper electronic stability control.

My statement stands. This device does not reflash the ECM (ECU) on this vehicle, despite the statement they are making there.

    Thanks, perhaps I should look at a different kit such as the HyperTech which doesn't make such claims? Although I assume I'm fine if many people have gotten the OTT flash then moved to larger tires and installed the RC speedometer calibration after the tune without any observed performance issues;
