Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
Didn't care for the mannerisms of the 3.5 but did not have any longevity anxiety. It's too revvy for my driving habits. Especially in a manual with .... interesting ratios.

    100% man.

He realized its much nicer to make money making youtube videos then wrenching on cars.

Everyone nowadays wants to be a "content creator". Sad...

Fear mongering is such a lucrative business. Too bad I was tragically born with morals or I’d consider getting into it, seems like a nice quick pump and dump side hustle to have on the weekends.

You basically just described every engine built since like 2010.

It's not just toyota, it's every manufacturer :notsure:

Yup and guess what about modern vehicles? they're unreliable, overpriced automotive equivalents of the disposable camera.
    What's your point??

Minus the fact that the shop is his main income stream and he does his YT stuff after hours.
His shop is so busy that you can't even get an appointment 7 months ahead of time.

You guys are all talking out your ass as always

No, I've got a lift, too many tools, and enough junk LS power farm trucks scattered everywhere to LS swap things long into the apocalypse (and a few mechanical diesels too!).

Jokes aside, I used to work at a dealer and saw several fleets of 3.5 powered Tacoma's going well over 250k miles, with suboptimal maintence. Is the 3.5 a perfect engine? No, but

    • Early 4.0s had head gasket issues
    • LS/LTs from a large range of years have collapsing lifters
    • Early 5.0 Coyotes had Cylinders that would go all egg shaped (literally, they'd go out of round)
    • 350 Chevys had valve seal issues
    • 7.3 Powerstrokes had crank position sensors that would randomly disable the truck
    • 22r's had bad timing chain guides
    • Honda B series blocks had weak spots.
Pretty much every engine has had its weak spots. I can deal with the 2grs.
