Well it's got to be Nevada. Somewhere close to Fallon? Or more south?

Dixie Valley, NV. Just North of US 50. Technically part of the NAS Fallon bombing range but it is not used for live fire obviously.

Very neat place. If you are lucky you can park in the middle and watch jets and helicopters training in the area.

Some neat older vehicles like that 8" M110 howitzer, T-72, older russian radars and some low end/DIY Vizmod vehicles like an M113 made to look kind of like a Tunguska.

That’s the area that the Top Gun School is located. I’ve pulled off the highway several times and watched them train. I’ve had jets fly low directly above me going full burner , something you’ll never forget, it’s mind blowing. I have a good frien$ who was a Top Gun grad, the stories he can tell.

We stumbled upon this guy in the desert, extreme SE California, perhaps out of the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma?

King 2.5 shocks with reservoirs all the way around. Deaver leafs in the rear. The BFG ATs are 265/75R16. No problems with tire noise.

Yuma maybe, could also be out Miramar, Fallon, or Pendleton. When I crewed -53s, we were out of MCAS Tustin(H) in Santa Anna. Spent time in all the other places I suggested too.
The bird is a CH-53E. I flew in CH-53A & D models. Now they are up to K models.

My day of dessert 4x4 fun would been spent shooting the shit with those JarHeads if I had happened upon them. :)

I thought about going over to chat it up but didn't know if they'd get nervous with a stranger approaching. I waved at them, and they waved back, so friendly.

They'd prolly be interested in checking out the Tacoma.
Definitely best to not approach without an invite... but pretty sure they would've waved you in.

My kid has always been into cryptozoology. Probably from his Dad reading him books and stuff.;) One of our best trips, to any forest worldwide, was to visit the very spot where the original Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot footage was filmed. We went to Willow Creek, Ca. and rented an inflatable boat. Got some directions from an indian dude (that we later found out was the guide for Survivor Man when he did his Bigfoot episode in the area...) and rowed our way to the spot. It was eerie and rad and some seriously great time with my wife and son. This was a while ago before all the massive Ca. fires up there. Last year, we went to a lake instead of a forest. Loch Ness, to check that off the crypto-bucket list.
