I'll try to attend something if it's a route my truck on 33's can handle. Got a locker. Last week of march me and friends are planning on reno to Moab-bryce canyon- north rim - st george- death valley big roundtrip.

For now its easy to be free and move around my work days to make it work.

Hell yeah! A trip like that seems so rad. Always wanted to do something like that

I'm just anxious to drive my truck, haven't really driven it since May last year. 38s, spring under, bed cage, and bypasses is making me so stoked for this summer

Mountain bikes, light offroading, camping, and 5 national parks. Their Spring break, and my "celebration" of being done with school?

I still haven't put on the UCA's I got off Eric though lol. Just gonna pay to have that one done because that does NOT sound fun in my apartment garage with motion detecting lights, no power outlet for lights or tools, and don't have a second vehicle to run to the store if an oopsie comes up and need a tool/bolt etc.

Haven't done much wheeling, but "cruising" where the rub from no ucas isnt an issue really

The trips gonna help me stop being lazy and force myself to get that squared away and order a proper skid plate like I've been saying I will do.

Fuck yeah dude that sounds so fun.
UCA swaps are such a bitch haha. Such a tight area to work with such a long bolt.
That sounds like a dope trip, have fun

The nice weather put me in the mood to do some small truck projects. I made a plate on top of the drawers out of 3/4” ply covered with outdoor carpet and got a fridge slide with tilt installed. Now that I have a trailer I have room in the bed to turn it into more of just electronics/fridge. The rest of the crap goes in the trailer.

Also mounted a 100w solar panel on the shell to keep my battery box topped off. I’ve been doing some testing and with only a few hours of full sun a day it keeps the battery charged to 100%. Running the fridge and Starlink all night, it gets down to about 85-90% but charges back up pretty quickly.

Anyone have any good areas to explore in the Sierras? Not looking for specific spots but pretty much all my solid spots that I frequent around this area have been completely blown out with people the last couple years.

Feels bad man. I don’t mind other people being around but now pretty much every time we go out now we’re surrounded by inconsiderate assholes that ruin it, especially with kids.

I have a ton of solid spots I used to go to all the time on lakes and rivers where I could always get a spot even on a Friday evening and it would be chill and quiet. Now those same places I have to take Thursday/Friday off just to sure to get a spot and even then there’s always some group blasting music and yelling until 3am and shooting guns right in the campground. Or people trying to setup 20 feet from me and seeing no issue with that.

I can remember back in the 80’s and 90’s where you could go anywhere and find a spot minus Yosemite

I agree. Even over the last like 2 years spots that I never knew people knew about have become like a day care nowadays haha

I’m afraid to go back home to my tiny town of Kernville in the southern sierras to find out it’s been trashed. used to be a pretty unknown area but people started moving there during Covid and priced me out from ever having a house there. Lot of beauty/outdoor activities in that area, still might be worth exploring on weekdays if you can find the time

My wife and I were just down climbing in kernville 3 weeks ago. It hasn't changed much but it was off-season before the Kern picks up for rafting. It's definitely not unknown anymore, but it's not nearly as blown out as the Sierras near Bishop.

I'm of the opinion that if you need an IFS skid that is more stout than the aluminum TRD skid you should probably run the full set.

I dont even have that one. just the stock offroad splash guard things that are beyond mangled. That TRD aluminum one is also 400+ so I wasn't even considering that since If I was getting JUST front I might as well get something proper beefy. I'd run the TRD one if it was 200 bucks tho

Edit: looks like I can find an eBay knockoff for 300. But still. 300 for that vs 340 for a brand new powder coated CBI steel. The 20 pound difference isn’t the end of the world in my eyes

Anybody use silver state offroad? I'm thinking I might buy my suspension from them and have them install it. Maybe my front bumper as well if they're open to installing something they didn't fab/sell. Going to cruise down monday and talk to them and feel them out.

Yes @cartter469 I know you have two friends that have used them

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
This is why I found new places other than the Sierras. And it sucks - tons of childhood memories in various places, stuff I planned to share with my kids and now it's just not worth it unless I can make it like a Tuesday - Thursday trip. Fortunately, enough of the asshats overlook Nevada as "that desert shithole", so there are still worthwhile places to go on this side of the border. And my little one will never know any better, which is mostly OK.

Went over and met Mitch, the owner of Silver State Offroad today. Probably gonna have them do my suspension. Price seemed fair, and it's local. Nice looking shop, and all the bays were full.
