dont feel bad I ran 2/0 in my truck.. I also went a slightly unnecessary step further and ran 2/0 ground wire all the way forwards as well…lol.

Here's the schedule for next weekend. You can run the trails and use the challenge course throughout the weekend, but they have some fun and often educational demos throughout the weekend. And you can come and go as you please. I'll be setting up camp friday and hanging out for a bit, but heading home in the afternoon. Coming back for all day Saturday and camping Saturday. Hope to see you at one in the future!

It's tough sometimes. Especially between being in college and work full time. But I love that truck so I'll do anything haha.

Far better to be overkill when it comes to electrical. Especially for someone like you running a high dollar engine management.

yeah I’m glad I did it now, funny when you get on engine management forums how many people end up resolving there issues by fixing ground issues.

Yup. I have a 4/0 ground direct to my cage from the battery and from my cage to my engine.

Main power wire size goes up, the main grounds need to do the same.

Never skimp on electrical. Moving my battery to the rear of the cab was a 1,000$ project.

$500 in cable alone to wire the 13,000 lb winch on the back of the truck

How'd you ground to your cage? I've been thinking about welding a stainless lug to mine.

Would you be willing to post some parts links?

It's funny because I have about a grand to play with and was deciding on headers or relocating my battery, both are the same price lol

Not a ton of parts into it really.

But all of my cable and lugs came from battery cable USA. I went with the dual insulated “extreme” as it adds a secondary layer of protection against chafing.

    2 runs 4/0
Run 1 was to the alternator
Run 2 was to a bus bar

    Ground
    4/0 battery to cage
    4/0 cage to engine

I used some pretty bad ass billet battery lugs from SDHQ

Some nice blue sea 750 amp fuse blocks with ANL fuses to my needs

All lugs are hydraulically crimped on as soldering brings oxygen into the insulation and will eventually cause corrosion.

I also used a Pike Industries 400 amp bus bar where I terminated my 4/0 and picked up power for my winch and electric fan.

I also want to add. Not everyone is going to need 4/0 cable. I don’t even need it anymore without a winch as I should never see peak amp output from my alternator.

But size accordingly. There are numerous calculators online to calculate wire size based on run distance, amperage, temperature and voltage drop.

You should always match ground size to your main power size on both chassis and engine grounds or you run the risk of bottle necking the system.

I know that commute time all too well. I had about the same commute to when @WormSquirts kindly let me have some space in his shop to finish up the truck. Definitely do longer days when you spend 5 hrs driving to the shop to wrench.

I can’t even imagine. My shop is a 3 minute drive from the house. It’s definitely nice to go home and chill for bits here and there.

Props to you guys doing what it takes to make things happen. You’re the definition of enthusiast’s

There have been many a late night when I was cursing myself for doing what I did but the only way out was forward. So crack on son get back to work haha.

I can't wait not to work on the truck's driveway which is like pea gravel plus silt, everything sinks into it and drop a bolt then I spend ages carefully going around looking for it. Maybe in a few years I'll build a shop then things will be sweet!

Well she’s loaded up on the new trailer. That means this thing is officially a toy, and I will tow it to wherever I want to have fun with it.
