What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I would check your fuel pump resistor as I just had this happen. It's between the battery and the headlight, disconnect plug and jumper the pins on the cannon plug to verify. if it runs then it's the resistor.

 

Whoops. My bad lol. Had 2 tabs up. I have love for and follow 2nd gens as well, and I obviously replied on the wrong one. Lol

 

Today was a rest day, but in the last week:

"New" CVJ front axle (to match the other one)
New front hub assembly
New brake rotors and pads
Flushed brakes
Flushed clutch
Flushed power steering

Recently put in an alternator and had a new clutch installed too!

 

I hope it goes well… thats “perdy”

 

Hit a deer about a month ago

 

If that's the extent of the damage, you got off pretty light. Or the deer are bigger and tougher out west.

 

Had the needle bearing delete and gear oil changed yesterday. Also had the drain and fill plugs swapped to the Lexus parts.

 

Hi. I have a 2006 Tacoma and I was fed up with my digital clock being almost unreadable during the day so I ordered one from aliexpress for about $35. What I didn't expect was that the color would now be white but I'm still happy with it, it looks just like the 2012-2014 models. Now I'll have to change everything to white to match.

 

Can you provide the link? I'd like to take a look as I have the same issue during the day.

Yes, that's what it was - mechanic called me at 5pm yesterday to let me know the part is "Toyota only" type of deal, and he won't receive one until Wednesday... smells like BS but whatever

Edit: after reading a few threads on the subject here, going OEM is the way to go, so apologies to my mechanic for having doubts.

 

That’s it . Medium size doe . I slammed on the brakes and knocked the deer down and it got up and ran away . Hopefully when I get around to it I can heat that up and pop it out

 

Anyone have a part number or a good seller they have used for the roof weather strips for an access cab? Much appreciated.

Followed the linked thread and made the DIY splash guards. Noticed after taking the picture I missed a couple holes for the plastic clips and added them later.

 

Got a nice sunny weekend, so I finally got around to installing another ECGS bushing. The previous owner of the truck had stripped the drain plug out pretty badly so I had to weld a nut onto it so I could get it out and replace the horrible OEM drain plug. The fill plug came out fine, but I'm kind of wishing a had bought a replacement plug for that as well.

Also, check out these spider nests on the lip of the front dif gasket. I can't imagine that's a great place to live.

 

Installed a new front bumper w/light bar, new headlights and a new grille. For the bumper, getting everything to line up once in place took some...I'll call it violent finesse. Also, the support at the top of the stock bumper had to come off as it interfered with fitment of the new one.
I didn't think it was going to be a big deal until I was installing the headlights, and realized without that thin brace I had nowhere to screw that end of the light housing to. As it turns out, the way everything is set up front, the grille provides enough outward pressure to hold the headlights in place, along with the screws on top and the one outside. It survived a trip half way across town anyway...
I'll have to wait to see if it'll all hold up on a real adventure.

 

After having the needle bearing delete done, had ecgs actually do it Friday. Now I've got a clunk in the left front while making right hand turns. Any idea what it could be?

 

Wheel bearing ?

 

Check the torque on the CV axle nut, it should be 173ft lbs. If they pulled the CV axle to install the needle bearing and it didn't get torqued back down properly, as mentioned above, the wheel bearing is likely the issue

 

I've jacked the driver side up and did the normal check for a bad wheel bearing and everything seems nice and tight, no movement up and down or side to side. Guess I could pop the cap off and check the torque.
