Would skinnies Fit on stock 3rd gen 4Runner wheels? I’m thinking about going skinnies instead of getting new wheels to fit 285/70/17

    Currently on 265/70/16

Installed a set of 255/75r17 Goodyear Duratrac RT’s on my Tacoma today. I really like the TRD sport wheels. No lift and no rubbing. 2B7EED37-8920-4FF7-AF44-0356B5243683.jpg

That is a great size option if you already have 17" wheels. Because that's been a "standard" size on Jeep Wranglers for years, there is a nice selection of both "P" and "C" load range choices.
If you aren't driving on pointy rocks far from cell service, "E" range tires aren't worth the loss in performance and mileage.

275/70/17 w 2.5” lift…. Front drivers side is rubbing the frame. What’s the fix for that one?

The wheel offset is probably a big factor. You may be able to make adjustments to your caster to push the wheel further forward, do you have stock UCAs? Or you could do a cab mount chop...

I just put on JBA UCAs over the weekend along with my Dobinsons struts I had rebuilt. Yestrday I had an alignment done. Maybe they moved the caster back.
Just now I took a metal hand grinder to the corner of the cab mount. It’s only rubbing on the wheel well side of the cab mount to about an inch in. I grinded that off which gives maybe 1/4 of clearance. It’s not enough metal gone to compromise anything. I’ll see if it’s clear now when I’m actually driving. Appreciate the input and maybe I’ll call the alignment shop and see if they can move the caster forward a little bit.

Post up your alignment setting and other will chime in. Most times, if you do not request max positive caster, the alignment tech will just try to match it side to side once it's in the green.

I just got 255X75X17 Toyo Open Country AT3s installed today to replace my 255X75X17 Duratracs. The Duratracs were chopping/chipping on the outside edges and getting annoyingly loud with the Beehive buzzing noise despite rotations every 5K... Discount tire did the install and it was a quick seamless and pleasurable process... Purchased online and had an appt and it was around 1/2 hour in and out!

Had the DuraTracs for almost 5 years and 33K, and cannot complain other than the constant noise and the fact that I only got 1/2 the lifespan out of them. They are now discontinue or replaced with duratrac RTs and so I went with the Toyos since the truck came with Toyo's (not AT3s) as OEM and they are made in Japan so I know they will last the 50 or 60K expected lifespan... Load range C and they do not appear to be heavier despite these being load range C and the duratracs being P-metric.

I will report back after a while of driving.

So I have a stock 2013 4x4 and I'm going to need tires this year. No plans to lift it, and I'm probably going to stay at 16" wheels. My driving is mostly between towns on pavement, with a lot of bad paved roads and gravel/dirt, but I need to be able to drive out into a field from time to time and go up bad driveways and FSRs.

I'm thinking about 235s? Are they a reasonable choice on a 16in. wheel?

I like the skinny look and I don't 4wheel for fun at all except bad gravel and FSRs to get to places I went to go to.

My alternative is probably to stay with stock size 245s and just get an A/T tire. I don't think there's much of a point of going to 265s at all, I don't really want to increase weight.

I use it for truck stuff for my property and hobbies like digging up trees for bonsai and collecting fieldstone for building walls, as well as my daily driver. I don't tow anything.

I might need to replace the rear springs at some point, and I might do rear shocks at the same time, but I don't need the lift and I'm happy with the way she rides currently. The tires are currently 245s on 16s, but they're highway tires and I'm worried about traction, but not really worried about clearance.

Not sure on the replacement Duratracs, but I'm on my 4th set of the old 235/85/16 duratracs

235/85/16 are all going to be load range E. I used those for years and they were great off-road and in snow. Toyo M-55....very popular with loggers and miners in BC.

Yeah, there are a few options that aren't super heavy but after looking a bit I might have to sacrifice the aesthetic because the weight difference is more than I can really justify, and I'm not going to have the budget to get alloy wheels to offset the additional weight. That's fine really, just make it a future goal.

    Thanks for your help folks.
