Interesting hit by Torres on Seabrook. Was it a hit to hurt Seabrook and maybe put him out of the game? Hell yes! At the very least to make him think twice about picking up a pass behind the net, I used to do the same in Junior and I would expect any body looking down at their skates when the puck is coming to them to get rocked, that is hockey.
Was it a hit to the head? IMHO he went for the shoulder, the force of the hit may have brought it up towards the head region. Did he leave his feet to complete the hit like the first period penalty he took on Campbell, NO. Should it be a suspension, hell no. But he is fresh off his recent suspension, the league wants to send a message and if they don't give him a game or two then were is their "consistency".
IMHO if a player is looking backwards or down at his skates for the puck he is fair game. If Torres had gone lower to try to hit him in the hips then who knows what would have happened. The game is played so quick at all levels, let alone the NHL I could second guess all day what he should have done and intent.
Loving the playoffs right now. The first round series are always good to watch as teams are pulling upsets or struggling to find their groove.

 

They have no consistency.

As I mentioned I'm all for cutting down on headshots but there has to be some level of responsibility on the players. Seabrook was playing the puck behind the neck, WITH HIS HEAD DOWN. How any NHL player can be so stupid is beyond me.

I am worried about the future where kids skate around the whole ice with their heads down because they know they won't get hit.......

 

The Rangers deserved to win yesterday. The Caps took a lot of dumb penalties and was pretty sloppy at times in the neutral zone. It just sucks to have to wait until Wednesday for game 4.

I agree and like your point, CBC jumped on Torres, but did not say anything about Seabrook making a stupid play.

 

So true, although sadly I wouldn't expect any less of the CBC and their irrelevant station....Todays PuckDaddy radio episode had a great call on it as well.

EDIT: Just noticed there will be no suspension, good to see, hopefully this doesn't make Torres change his game, playing on the edge is the only thing that makes him the way he is. Maybe next time Seabrook will keep his head up behind the net.....
