I tried it, did not have an effect.

 

so far, I have changed out the throttlebody, disconnected the catalyst from the exhaust system. None of which have made a difference.

 

What year model is the donor engine?
I guess I can look at the diagrams and see if there was a change in wiring at some point.
But that's about all I can contribute at this point.

After my second pressure test, it never got below 40 psi. It's still dying. Could it be the fuel rail or injectors?

 

2007 Taco

 

Check all the wiring. Unplug and plug in again. I wonder if the crankshaft position sensor wire isn’t plugged in all the way. That sucker is hard to get to. Just a thought.

 

Shouldn’t be an issue with the wiring I don’t think. I have an ‘09 taco with ‘13 engine. Exhaust manifolds were different but that was corrected with using truck year exhaust gaskets on the new engine. I think it has to do with install. Some wire is not connected right or vacuum leak as was mentioned.

 

I'm checking wires. Where should I look for a vacuum leak?

 

Say it could be a wiring issue, is there a diagnostics I can run to better help pinpoint? I have a code reader with the live data option.

 

Using the service manual (it’s free online via bootleg or pay for techstream), go through every step making sure everything was installed properly. Check the electrical connectors for corrosion or loose pins. Check all the ground connections for good contact (make sure wires are not rusted out, lots of YouTube vids on this). ECU assumes installation is correct so the codes might not be helpful.
