I'm just glad you're keeping yourself busy. I see a lot of recently retired guys just sit around the house and do nothing. Then a year later they're chucking them in a grave. This isn't all cases, but happens a lot.

I used an 1/8" carbide endmill in the milling machine with high RPM on the one this morning. If you can't put it in a mill, a good drill bit may be your only option. Slow rpm and lots of oil. EZ outs are tough but not as tough as taps.

    Yea I know..
    Like they shut down.
I kinda did for like 6 weeks to decompress and say fuck you to it all. I figured out real quick “move it or lose it”
    or I’d be really miserable.
    Soooooo, I do shit….lol

Has to go in a mag drill. It's the back of the crank where the flywheel meets up. I do have a 1/4 carbide endmill though.

Sitting around killed my grandfather on my mom's side, just slower. Retired early and still did some computer and house stuff. Moved to Maryland and restored an old house (even got an award from the preservation society). But, he moved down to Mississippi and just gave up. 7 years later gone in his early 70's.

Meanwhile my other grandfather barbered up till 6 months of his passing. Congestive heart failure finally got him. Mid 80's so not a bad run.

Broken bolts/studs due to electrolysis between aluminum and steel in cases like this are the worst when these needed to be removed. I don’t have much luck with them when working on a wheelchair lift front guarding aluminum plate, the 1/4” steel bolts that attached the brackets to the plate always seized and snapped during removal, and in many cases, the bolts got fused to the aluminum so bad that caused the easy out to be broken; we threw away many of those good aluminum plates.

Friend of mine who let me bring the kids hunting at his place in December ask me to redo his golf cart battery trays, they were bad. He brought it to the house last week and ask could he leave his trailer, I said yeah no problem.

Got them redone Thursday evening, told him thanks for letting me bring the kids hunting, we'll call it even.

He messaged Saturday and said he was on his way to get it, I was trying to make it easier on him and was turning his trailer around by hand and hit the left rear tail light on a scrap project in front of the shop and destroyed the tail light :frusty:

I told him what I did when he got there, he said don't worry about it. He tried to give me some cash for fixing his golf cart and I refused.

Just ordered him a new tail light from Amazon.

I have to say I’ve seen that happened to people I know as well, didn’t get much enjoyment out of the retirement.

If you notice a trailer light not working don't give it a little kick for encouragement, just sayin'...

New job is much busier than my old one. It's been non stop since I got here at 730. Just had lunch. (He says they scheduled light due to the new computer system) kinda scared to see an actual busy day for them. I think it's going well, but what do I know ? It's my first day haha
