Progress has been good lately! Lots of little details have been happening the past few weeks.

But yeah, it is all good.

 

When the most you do is drive to chili's you don't have to worry about frame flex

3/2/25 Update.

First mockup.... option A... but thinking of option B with the tire hanging more off the rear with a hoop around it.


Option B.... evens out the weight on the rear more, there will also be an 80ish lb winch mounted underneath.... Box is going to hold bigger air compressor, secondary battery/electric distribution area for the rear, cordless impact + impact set, some recovery gear.

 

I generally vote B - much easier to get to the tire, easier to stack two tires if going to BBRSP or similar place. Keeps tool box inside the axles and maintains rear window visibility.

If option A - tire looks like a pain to access. Would he give you a flat surface in front of the box? Could be handy as a deck/flatbed/work area.

 

Yeah, that is why we are going with Option B... the tire would be accessible with option a, but still a pain regardless.

Only thing I would lose is going to be the flat area in front of the box to use as a work surface or to mount like a cooler or something. But that is what I have the back seat for and the fenders will be somewhat flat.

 

mount the tire flat on the deck? use a Y strap and tie down points, or threaded T handle style through the middle into the deck. easy to remove the tire if you needed a workspace. could do recessed D Rings for fully flat. the threaded t handle option the threads in the deck would be recessed too so same thing..

 

Possibly, shall see, working on getting the shocks mounted and lined out as far as travel goes currently and making sure full use of the shocks are being used...
