Best On Road Tires?

Michelin looks pretty good. They have them at Sam's and Costco( 265/75/16's) $175-$190 Installed each. BF Goodrich has their good On Roads for $ 135-$140 (265/75/16's) installed. Are the Michelins that nuch better for the extra $50 or so? Thanks Rich

 

I really like the Michellins for on-road, but their tread life suffers for handling OR their handling suffers for tread life. They really don't have a balance.

I have only had BFGs for off-road, and they were decent on the road (01 XTerra 4x4). I wouldn't get them again, unless I was straying from the beaten path often.

 

Somebody must be highway stock still? I commute and drive all over on the freeways. Trying to find out best Highway tires for my rig?? Thanks-Rich

 

I love my Michelin X Radial LT's from Costco, long tread life and rides as smooth as glass on SoCal freeways. I would get them again in a heartbeat. Although I would think about getting the Michelin Cross-Terrains, but for my wife's Honda Pilot.

 

Bridgestone Dueler Revo's are pretty good.....

 

Agreed, but the tread pattern looks like it'd be pretty noisy on the highway though.

 

The Michelins look pretty Cool, did you get the 265/75/16s? They have $175 and $193 models. Plus usually the $60 offdeals. I had the Bridgestone Duelers on my Ranger Supercab . I now have theGoodrichLong Trails. These would be for the new Prerunner if I get the bigger tires and better. I might sell the dulops that are the factory. Iwould give me a small lift all around.

 

I just asked a friend from work about his XLT'S, he says they are great on road tires he has 60k on them and they are wearing good. His only complaint is traction on ice and snow.

 

Not in the least bit noisy.... My husband had them on his Grand Cherokee.
I had a set of Dueler A/Ts (before Revos came out) on my previous tacoma.

My next set of tires are gonna be something like that - as I hate having 'car like' (non aggressive looking) tires on a pickup truck. But that's just me.....

 

I had the Firestone Destination A/Ts on my 94 Suburban. 58,000 miles (until I got rearended) on them and they handled snow and ice beautifully. Plus they were great on light mud, quiet on the road, and gave low roll resistance.

With the Destination A/Ts and a LSD rear end, I took my 2WD Suburban everywhere.

Once the "Lifetime Warranty" is up on my Dunflops, I am switching to the Destination A/Ts. 26,000 miles down - 34,000 miles to go...

 

Nitto makes a flat out excellent road tire. I didn't know they made off-road shoes. I may have to look into those for the RAV4.
