Those rail ladders are solid.Mine have been through the ringer of many range trips, in and out of vehicles, and all manners of use and abuse and they just stay put.

The forgings yes, but the quality of the machining done off the CNC file may vary, as well as the level of QC. Case in point, I have many a good receiver from one very well reputed brand, and one from another large brand that requires upper/lower disassembly with a punch and hammer.

Do you think that's "tolerance stacking"? Or do they behave that way on any given upper?

Tried the 450 BM upper on a lower with a super42 buffer and spring and it cycled perfect. Felt recoil as much as a 12ga. Now to build a lower and I’d like to change the handguard and gas block then pick an optic

So, if one was to build the “Reddit Special”….does anyone have any advice as to which Specific parts (apart from the obvious)should be used?

I’m aware it’s personal preference etc.
Just thought I would consult those who have more knowledge in this than I do.

Reddit special is definitely Aero lower, BCM upper, Geissele trigger, BCM furniture and Holosun/Eotech optic. If you run a light it would be a Streamlight.

As far as BCM upper goes… Isn’t there one that’s stronger and/or lighter weight?

and I think it’s preferred to use a BCM BCG as well.

No clue. Everyone on Reddit buys the blem uppers out of a big box in some dudes garage. Then builds them out to their liking.

haha so the Internet forums “Reddit”
Has multiple AR-15 threads that discuss opinions and options on builds. The one uniform build that became very popular due to a guy named Lucas who has a company named T.Rex Arms, talking about it was the Aero Precision lower receiver/BCM upper receiver combo. There are multiple reasons stated why one would choose that specific combo.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of it either nor do I post on those forums. I’m just trying to figure a few things out and learn what I can without reading that Reddit chaos. So much info out there… it’s best to ask those who have experience than a bunch of keyboard warriors waiting for the zombie apocalypse.

Skip the majority of internet noise, pick a rifle that is a good quality brand with good QC and then get out, shoot, and upgrade as you find deficiencies

    This, especially for your first!
Many MFG's offer a nearly infinite amount of pricing levels. You can actually buy quality off the shelf for less than building these days. For a precision competition rifle, yeah I will still build, but most don't have the need.
Also, I don't usually sell guns, but keep in mind a home brew has a resale of jack n shit, unless you break it down and sell individually. A quality off the shelf will still have some resale should you want/need to sell.
