What a weekend! Got to tag along for Pops’ first test ride, then take him out to get the new Ibex its first taste of gravel Friday evening. Saturday morning, we went for a tour around the mountain while he proceeded to put on a thorough display of his experience. That man absolutely ripped it up, and it’s been years since he rode off-road. I had an absolute blast struggling to keep up.

    IMG_1951.jpg

Then I got to test ride one of the Ducati Scramblers Saturday evening. What a fun machine! That’s the only other ride-by-wire I’ve ever experienced aside from wifey’s MT09.

    IMG_1950.jpg

Sunday was date day with the Mrs. She wanted to take the bikes and have a picnic, so we road out to our local Wildlife Management Area and spent all day riding almost 100 miles of forest roads.

Today, I got some very expensive Italian stickers in the mail after a 10 week wait.

Glad to see folks getting out! Seriously agitated with the lack of bike time.

    @BkerChuck
Thanks for the GLMC callout. Been entirely too busy, lots of travel and work, and now that the weather is turning...I'm waiting on headers to come back from the coaters before I can get going.

I understand the getting agitated part. My PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) was getting horrible. The route Saturday I just sort of threw together last minute seeing if I could string together some outlying locations and it worked surprisingly well. I save my other route for a nicer day.

I'm signed up for the Team Strange GT as well and have been plotting locations for that tour as well but Team Strange doesn't start until April 1 so I'm going to be revisiting some areas a second time after April 1.

I'm feeling it too. I didn't ride a single time in February  Weird weather combined with unfortunately timed day-care duties and a vacation on days when the weather was cooperating. It was in the 50's here yesterday, and should be in the 40's today, but my wife is now sick so I'm probably on daycare driver duty all week :pout: :annoyed:

I managed 9 days riding in February, mostly commuting to work but it still counts. Managed every day in March so far but tomorrow we're looking at heavy rain and gusty winds so the bike will be home in the garage.

Hope the Mrs feels better soon.

That's kinda their schtick...gets hella youtube clicks which gets them well paid though. Id rather at least have a channel that fabs stuff become popular over the brainrot "how many toilet seats can a 30-06 go through" or whatever.

It's powered by an LC8 motor out of a KTM, so the thing goes!

you call it brainrot, I call it crucial information for urban warfare...

If you're defending yourself with toilet seats, I'm thinking your chance to seize the initiative and repel an ambush via overmatched fire superiority in urban operations is...slim.

I will say, I am at least having fun driving the new car..

The Mrs. is feeling worse today, unfortunately, but I'm just happy the baby hasn't gotten it (again, I think she gave it to us) and I've been just feeling slightly crummy but mostly fighting it off. The next 10 days are high 40's, low 50's so as soon as everyone is healthy again I'll be hopping back in the saddle

Got my valve stem for the tubeless application for my front spokes wheel. I bought one that fits the smaller hole that the tube stem stick through just because I didn’t want to drill the hole bigger. Anyway it’s the kind with a rubber washer gasket on the inside then tighten it down. Well I got the tire installed and it leaked right at the spoke closest to the valve stem. What happened is the rubber part went under the rim strip that I glued down after the sealant and it pulled it up just enough to cause a leak. I pulled the tire half off and removed and sealed the valve stem to the wheel. I will let it cure overnight and install the tire and try again. Looking back I don’t think the rim strip was the best Idea and should have just stopped at the sealer. If I was to do it on my KLX I will just use sealer.
My rear solid wheel is supposed to be here Thursday. I will take out the wheel bearings and replace the grease and get them cleaned up and installed.

Had to order a new battery for my 2014 FJR1300 tonight. I guess 4 years and 55k miles was an okay lifespan. Washed the 2013 when I got home from work and got all the crud off it from riding it this winter.

6 speed! My tacoma was a 6 speed, then went to an auto 4runner and missed rowing gears, so i only looked at manual transmissions this time.

This the reason I'm looking for another vw. It's been 14yrs since I've rowed some gears. Getting that itch again.

Got home from work and wanted to do another heat cycle on the RM85 for some break in and general after work braps.

Damn thing fired up FIRST KICK after sitting in the "cold" dark garage for the last two days. (WR450 temp sensor was saying 56*F.... thats fuggin cold, glad i put antifreeze in it)

I think im CLOSE on tuning on the thing but 2 stroke dirtbike tuning is a new thing to me, waaaay different than the 2 stroke jetski tuning that im used to with their relatively consistent load vs something with gears that revs out with drastically varying loads, also small CC motors are so touchy when it comes to carb tuning.

My neighbor texted me while warming it up for a rip going.... "That thing sounds CRISPY" damn near made my day.

Either way, lil thing has lasted 3 heat cycles with my ghetto top end rebuild with some WOT multi gear rips and sheeeeesh she makes some power for its size. I think she will be good.

Got one, two or three rips around the block before I put on the new Tusk Intermediate / hard tires on it and then she sits to not ruin those being a degenerate on the asphalt till 2.5weeks from now.

Those little 80cc 2 strokes are a blast. Years ago my ex gf father had a kx80 sitting on. The side of his garage. He said if i could get it running you can keep it. I did just that rip that little thing around everywhere it was a blast. Powerband screaming through the woods sounded fast but it wasn't lol.

Gotta blend in to the terrain. But he only did part of it. The uncovered black boots stand out like a champ. That’s why when in training playing war games.. SF, SEALS or whoever else could always pick you out quickly in the field. Some ranking Brass or 1st Sergeant, wouldn’t let your boots get dirty. They had to highly spit shined polished at all times. Hence you were always found and picked off. Might as well had lighted beacons on your feet. That alone never made sense to me or any troop in the field.
