Looks like moth cocoons. Were they empty?

Yeah, they were empty. I assumed spiders because they look just like the little nests that yellow sac spiders like to leave around my house.

I installed the URD short shifter kit over the weekend. I wish I had done that a year ago, it makes such a difference in shifting. Install sucks a bit since on the 2.7 trans 2/3 of the bolts are only accessible from under the truck and the clearance is tight once the spacer block is installed but I got it done.

I wonder how these compare to the alternative HD harness plus ~100w halogens

Really don’t know, but I always get props and get asked in regards of what I use. No weird color transfer and not annoying to the oncoming traffic.

Changed the oil in the front and rear diffs and the transfer case. Simple enough, but time consuming with a hand pump, especially the rear diff. Also got new tires put on, the old ones were falling apart. Sorry, don't have pictures right now and it's storming outside so I won't have any until tomorrow.

Not too bad yet, but the big line hasn't gotten to us. Strong winds all day, power has been out for 2 and a half hours, but I haven't seen a tornado warning since Mississippi. Here's what my fancy radar app shows right now. Yellow polygons are severe thunderstorm warnings.

Mounted my new ditch lights. I like these better as the wire exits the center of the light and makes for a cleaner install, plus the mounting bracket is a better design.

I'm thinking I want to try a different brand of ditch light brackets.

I also did this! That's a great thread. I did it twice though, decided since I'm waiting on my suspension still, I'd re-do it with more forward coverage and fix some fitment issues.

Were I to do it again I'd probably take the template in to Staples or something to have printed on a plotter to eliminate alignment issues with the poster print style execution..

    For those that have these:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071G7QD5T

What did you do about your rubber boot? The little control box definitely wont fit through, as is. Did you cut it? Leave the boot off completely?

Also, did you try to seal the electrical connection in some way? I can see maybe taping it up with electrical tape...but I can also imagine that might hold any moisture that would get in and make things worse.

I appreciate any thoughts on either situation...............

Detailed my taco yesterday. Couldn't take all the salt and road work dust anymore. Of course i was only going to do a quick wash since were supposed to get nothing but rain today... i just couldn't stop myself though.
