    Ouch. She doing ok now?

This person had 8 orthopedic surgeries and a few brain surgeries.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't speed anymore and wears his seatbelt every time.

Finally yes, thank you. Spine was a double discectomy in 2021, C4-5 replaced. Fully healed in 4 months and was told she could still go skiing just no moguls.

The accident was mostly therapy and doctor visits, though she did have carpal tunnel and cubital (elbow) surgery.

Hoping that person in your case learned something.

Why didn't you just put new glass in the Subaru that got totaled by hail? In 2014, my cousin’s husband bought a hail-damaged 2011 Subaru Impreza for like $11,000. It had a clean title and had been damaged in a historic hailstorm in Reading, PA. It was covered in little dents, but there was nothing wrong with it mechanically. He drove it for at least five years and got it well past 100K miles.

There are certain things I would never bother reporting to an insurance company because I know it would would result in a write-off.

On another note, we were thinking of buying Amanda a car with a rebuilt title that had been properly repaired; I talked to a USAA when I was filing a claim to repair my windshield, and she said that USAA will insure vehicles with rebuilt titles. However, the premiums and deductibles are no different than the same vehicle with a clean title. Also, if the vehicle gets totaled again, having a rebuilt title greatly affects the actual cash value. I’m also assuming that if the vehicle gets functional damage, it is more likely to be totaled due to the reduced value.

Our Subaru had significant damage. All cosmetic (I assume large dents in the A/B/C pillar might not affect roll over protection?), and bodywork would have needed to be done to make it drivable again: around front windshield frame to properly fit new glass, one of the side doors was so dented the window didn't roll up easy, the hood glared very badly with the golf ball size dents.

Her Subaru had already been in a pretty good collision that took out the complete drivers side and the fit and finish wasn't great.

USAA gave us 20300.00 for the 5 year old Crosstrek with 89k miles. We wrote a check for 22700 for it brand new. To get salvage rights for the car, USAA would have just given us a sum of 7600 dollars and a branded title. The repairs would have been 3300.00 to replace the hood/painted, fix the windshield frame/glass, fix side door skin, and other minor issues. We did not like the 2.0 motor or the features in the premium trim package. I was not going to perform any of this work on her vehicle. I had enough issues dealing with the 160k in damages on my house at the time that still to this day isn't finished (front door and some stonework).

We let it go and collected our check. We then found a really low mileage 2022 Limited Crosstrek 2.5L with all options for 28k. My wife had 5 years left to work at the time and probably wouldn't have made the mileage in the time left without some significant cost.

So that was the long version why.

Why did they total a car worth more than twenty grand over $3,300 in damage?!?!

It wasn't 3300.00. That is what it would have cost me to just make it road worthy. When they estimated a new cab was needed and all body panels, the adjuster said it would cost more than the vehicle is worth....so over 20k dollars.

Because I was gonna say it cost almost $3,000 to put a new door on my truck and repaint it three years ago…

It adds up quick. That was why we let it go. Keeping a golf ball just was not worth it at all.

What the hell happened to your truck that required a new bed? I got hit by a drunk driver in 2015. New bumper and left rear fender, parts and labor, was $2,200...

Tree limb fell on the driver's bedside right on the top, chopped the bitch right in half clean. The impact fucked up the left side near the cab, crack about a foot long horizontial. Was about 7-8 hours to fix and no real guarantee of it working.

Enterprise does rent T4Rs, but they don’t commonly come through the branch where I work; I cleaned up this 2024 SR5 on Monday…

My girlfriend’s birth mother passed away recently, and we made two separate trips to her apartment in Coatesville to get some stuff. Del Toyota is less than ten minutes away, and I saw online that they had some 6th Gens in stock, so I talked Amanda into letting me go to the dealer in exchange for driving all the way out to Coatesville…
