    A lot of them are made by the same company. Do a little research on brands. Reduced features means less issues, typically. They don’t make them like they used to though…. Also, the appliance market is now just like the mattress market. Model numbers are made for specific retailers, to keep comparison shopping at bay. Whole brand identities also (Performa is Maytag for Lowe’s). There are even whole “premier tier” brands (think Lexus/Toyota). Good luck!
