For those looking for a replacement battery and are having a hard time finding a decent group 27, this is what the group 94R / H7 looks like in the engine bay. I had to use an inexpensive Amazon battery hold down since the 94R / H7 is slightly shorter than the 27. Used one hook that came with the kit and one from the original to tie it down. This one's a store brand made by East Penn. More power + more readily available = win for me.
    Cheers.

Nice battery. I just get a 27 series Costco or Walmart battery for about $110 after core return. They last at least 5 years at which time I replace them as part of routine maintenance and I’m good to go.

Very true. Mine was starting to show signs that it's useful life might be approaching it's end. 6 years old. Tested as acceptable but well below it's rating. Preventive maintenance. Just that around here fresh 27's can be hard to find. Local Walmart has no auto centre, Costco's can be hours away. Local big auto parts retailer carries a few of them, but they've been on the shelves for a while (was in the business and we didn't sell many of them, so why order them).
Anyway, just a pic to show they fit if you can't find a 27. Always good to have options.
    Cheers,

Glad you got it worked out. Great White North, sounds like you are out in the boondocks of Alaska or somewhere. Theres a port in Alaska (can’t recall which one) where the small Costco gets a delivery of supply’s about once a week or so(not in the winter though) and they sell out of 90% of their stock in a day. Been there but just can’t remember which town it was.

I just replaced my 9 year old battery in my 2004 BMW. That car sits most of the time so no wonder it died. I had it on a battery tender, but I didn't hook that up for the last 4 months or so. I got it from Walmrt & its an EverStart Platinum AGM battery-H7 94R and was $179 + tax.

Am I really getting THAT old or are the batteries getting heavier and heavier?! LOL! At least the batter is in the trunk and I didn't have to hoist the battery up into the engine compartment!

Nope. Not that old. The batteries are getting heavier. lol
The H7's are over 50 lbs. Good thing you didn't have the H8, they're almost 60. (Damn German cars could have 3 different sized batteries and the only way to tell was to actually go out look at the vehicle, then register/reset the new battery after installation. PITA)
    Cheers.

I worked at a Sporting Clays range and the traps were powered by car or marine batteries. Normally, changing them out wasn’t hard because you could pull your side by side right up to them. But in the winter it was a different story. Hauling a 50 pound battery in 2 feet of snow on snowshoes is quite the experience. I don’t recommend it.

Nope. Doesn't sound like any fun at all. Hmmm...I wonder if the new Lithium Ion power stations (Jackery/Bluetti etc) could power something like that nowadays. They've got some hefty impressive Wattage ratings and not all that heavy.

Problem is cost, we had 10 stations, 4 traps and a station controller battery each. Plus a 5-Stand with 8 traps. Add to that 10 batteries charging as replacements. I never want to haul another battery again.
