it’s the same size. I have to figure out a way to bypass the switch and maybe hard wire? to eliminate it so I can use that space. Still a bit hidden by the rim of the steering wheel at some angles but at least you’ll be looking up high and not down low away from the road when checking the temp.

I don't know what model you have, but there's no room in the upper bank of switches, say near where the fog light switch would be? My 2014 sport has a blank button there.

    Here’s my 2014 OR.
My front/rear locker switch has replaced the factory rear locker switch.

I never considered changing the rheostat… but I have never dimmer it in years of ownership. Might be worth putting the temp in that location and just unhooking the rheostat.

This blank would be a good spot too, but a bit more wiring… so not ideal.

Dang you got all the accessories!

Looks like the rheostat would be a good position. Not many other choices it looks like.

The lower panel gauge is available too, it’s a different shape. That seems a lot more visible. Wish I had that option :pout:

I did notice there were two different styles of gauges - type A & B. Wondering if that's why I had a bitch of a time fitting it on the panel.

So I haven't committed to pushing the temp gauge into the dash all the way yet. It's such a tight fit and I don't want to break anything. Did you have fit issues with yours or did it pop right in?

I figure this is a long shot, but do you still have this mirror? I know a guy who might be interested in buying one from you lol

Are you looking for a Gentex mirror with temp and compass?

IIRC it was “snug” but went in fine without having to trim anything. If you got the wrong size it would be visibly wider/shorter than the opening. Hopefully you ordered the “type B” size for the upper location, “type A” is the lower panel by the shifter

Do you have a loose switch blank to match up with?

Yes I am, looks like it's the homelink version too. Can you send me a PM with the part #? Figure we can work out a sale without sidelining the thread

Yeah - it's the correct style for sure, but I'm feeling a ton of resistance towards the end - it's still sticking out maybe 1/4", and like I said I just don't want to break anything! Two of the prongs on the temp gauge have actually broken trying to push it in all the way.

Took some finagling but I got it in.

I will say, in my opinion, the blue is hard to see when the sun is hitting it, but still better than no thermometer.

Where'd you get the front/rear locker combo switch? Would love to free up a spot.

    Edit: Found it

Figured I’d chime in for us regular cab owners.
im a big fan of marine grade electrical components (blue sea systems, sea dog, isotherm, etc…)
Us reg cabbers don’t have power mirrors so I used that blank to mount a blue sea systems mini oled temp gauge. Can also swap out one of the two 12v sockets if you don’t have the power mirror blank.
Ran a fuse jumper from the panel right behind the gauge. The power draw is negligible so this won’t do any harm running off the jumper.

Pic doesn’t come out showing the temp clear for some reason.

That’s a sea dog usb/usbc/volt meter that I swapped in for one of the cig outlets.

Is there a YouTube vid anywhere walking through this? I’m new to wiring, even something as simple as this, so I’ve got the heebie jeebies. I did see one for a guy installing in his Nissan but I’m hoping there’s one out there specific to 2nd gen, or Tacoma at least
