What is the STX listed for? I'm thinking that truck stickers around $54k prices went up slightly for March. Maybe $50k or less would be the asking price. SR5 XC 4x4 is around $44-45k if you can find one, maybe those are discounted but doubt it. The only thing I don't like about STX is the lime green accents, it's very Jeep but that is easily ignored I think it's only the side vents and seats. If you don't need the fullsize the only real advantage over the Tacoma is higher rated engines, more payload and towing capabilities and the larger tank rear bench seat if you need it.

Before the price increase, this particular truck was $49k. I bought my Taco in '14 for $26k. it's hard for me to accept these modern dollar signs.

Pricing is always an issue with new vehicles even when it's affordable and you pay market price it's always expensive. I don't want to pay $50k and a lot of trucks are approaching $70k. One of the reasons the Tacoma appeals to me pricing tends to be less than a fullsize depending on trim and market conditions. All Tacoma trims including the SR have a more luxurious steering wheel than the F-150 STX. You can also order an F-150 from a dealer like Granger Ford for below or at invoice. Not something I have ever done.

Don't forget total cost of ownership. There are estimators which take into account several factors including depreciation which is one of the things the most distinguishes the tacomas from the crowd. I looked at edmunds.com. If I've entered the data correctly for these two, total cost over 5 years is 10K for ford vs 6k for the tacoma. That's not pennies. Even if your goal is to drive it until it disintegrates, you'd expect the tacoma to out last the ford for sure. But you might get a different perspective on the ford forum.
