Question about White Tacomas

I have a 22 white tacoma sr5. Just wanted to know a couple things im a little worried about. 1st how do i know if my white tacoma paint will fade? 2. Do all gen 3 white tacomas fade? If mine were to fade and i would repaint it with an aftermarket company, will it be more durable? Just curious and wanted to know. Love my white tacoma just a little scared about these paint stories.

My 2021 in Phoenix is doing just fine and it's hot as hell here.

 

Going on 8th year. No issues. Barely any rock chips on the front end

 

Relax brother, your white paint will last and look just fine. And if you do get some peeling, Toyota has provided a letter of intent to cover this with some sort of fix Concerning fading, I have not heard anyone complaining about that, just the potential peel issue.

PS: you already bought the damn thing so why are you lamenting about it post purchase?

 

I hand wash mine just in case .. and wax it to protect it .

 

The Super White II 040 tends to fade down to the grey primer after some years, usually around the windows and on the roof mostly. Nothing you can do about it other than keep it clean and park it in the garage if you're lucky enough to have one.

There's no clear coat layer, it's pigment+clear in one coat and its quite soft.

 

Five years and that bitch still looks sexy AF.

I'm one of the very fortunate owners to have one of the seemingly random ones that has not suffered the peeling paint problem/defect. I had no knowledge of the issue when I bought my truck in 2021 or I probably would have passed it up for a different color.

Eleven years and +- 140,000 miles and no symptoms or signs of paint failure. The gloss is also fine.

 

Life is too short to worry about problems you don’t yet have. Take care of your truck, and it’ll take care of you.

 

I have a 22SR5 and i believe there is a build date that would cover the 22s. I think my will not be covered as i did not make the cut off date. The issue was supposed to be fixed.

 

White paint turns yellow over time.

 

I know the 1st gen 040 paint is stage I with no clear coat. I have read on here that the 3rd gen 040 /does/ have a clear coat. Is there a definitive answer whether 3rd gen 040 white has a clear coat?

 

I've read here that the pain is mixed with a clear coat so there isn't any clear coat over the paint. The problem is the pain is not bonding well with the prime is what I heard.
