It made me depressed, I had to run over to the vans store and get a new pair of slip-ons.

@Speedytech7 as I've mentioned before, I think my 3RZ needs a new head gasket. I've never torn into an engine before and need to read up a bunch before I do, but in the interest of taking advantage of Decatur's discount...

Do you think either Toyota's overhaul gasket kit (04111-75102) or valve grind kit (04112-75100) are a good buy? I assume I'd only need the valve grind kit but the full overhaul kit is only like $20 more and it sounds like it includes everything in the valve grind kit.

Would I be better off piecing things together myself? Cometic head gasket, LCE teflon intake gaskets, I'm not sure what else...

It's not a performance build but I don't mind spending money on better parts in the name of reliability or ease-of-use.

I think you'd be good with just the valve grind kit, if you want to do any of the other stuff just by the apex kit off RockAuto they're good quality. If there's anything you want additional pictures or details of now's the time to tell me cuz we're rebuilding a 3RZ at the moment

I'm not even sure what to ask about. The general process makes sense to me I just don't know the details, gotchas, "while you're in theres", etc. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a knowledgeable friend who I can get to check my work but he's a Subaru turbo guy, no Toyota experience.

Truck has 230k miles on it. Engine has been open before but I don't know exactly when or what was done. Valve clearance was in spec when I checked it a year or so ago.

I probably won't do the work for a little while but I am starting to collect parts.

Got attacked by these two dogs when I got home from a run. My neighbor defended me with a metal rake and we fought our way back to our houses to get our phones. Called 911 since animal control was closed. These dogs have harassed my neighbors multiple times and they seem to enjoy bullying other dogs. Which made me extremely concerned for any children in the area.

They broke into my yard last month and went back in through the same hole in my fence. Then they broke new holes into the shared fence with my neighbors and started harassing other dogs. An elderly husky was chased onto my back porch out of it’s own yard and when the darker colored dog went to bite it’s ear (husky was already cowering and whining) I snapped and started yelling. That got them all fired up again and when they jumped against my glass I hit the glass and it shattered everywhere. Animal control arrived and had to tranquilize both of them and they gave the guy quite a fight. The police officer that arrived was helping with his telescoping baton.

I’m glad I stood up to these awful neighbors who let their dogs terrorize us all and destroy property. But I feel dumb for breaking my own window.

Moving into upper management is a interesting new skill set. Just interviewed 4 guys and been reviewing resumes. Out of the 4 only 1 only seems like a fit

Our city is in a crisis right now. I’m so lucky none of these incidents have landed me in the hospital. There were two dogs mauled to death in their own backyard by similarly aggressive dogs recently.

Is that offer still open and is the position dangerous enough to kill me in a timely fashion?

That's messed up. It's hard not to lose your shit when stuff like that happens. On Halloween a few years back I stepped outside (prompted by distressed animal sounds) to find my neighbors goat being mauled by 3 dogs that broke into their yard.
By the time I got the goat to the vet I didn't even need a Halloween costume.

That confrontation will live in my head for ever. I had my pistol drawn and ready to go before they noticed me from about 15ft away but Instead of squeezing the trigger I racked the slide back and shouted for some good ol fashion violence of action and they took off. I remember thinking to myself if they came towards me I'd have to shoot and I'm still glad it didn't come to that.

That goat and my hound/shepherd mix were the best of friends even after all of that
    IMG_20170304_160409.jpg
I have some videos of the goat charging the fence and rearing up like she was going to hit Maggie but she always pulled away at the last second and would run off kicking, bucking, and farting like goat zoomies then coming back and sticking her horns through the fence for Maggie to chew on.

You're a white male and live in San Angelo but don't carry a gun?

I had a dude over there pull one on me at a red light at like 4 am because he didn't want to yield off that slightly poorly designed knickerbocker exit on the hospital side

According to all my co workers they all carried as well
